That was supposedly a Ranger target if they lost out on Eovaldi. Guess they better hope to sign him now.

That's an insane hill to die on. :lol

Not really.

I mean, the Yankees mystique is a real thing and most players buy into it, hence why they're clean cut, shave their beards, etc.

The minute you start letting players dictate the terms, then they lose that mystique.

And damn, I'm sure the Yankees were going to pay him at least 500 million. So that isn't enough? You need a suite too?

Fuck that guy.

Baseball are creating monsters with these contracts. They better be careful.

You're presumably willing to pay a player $750 million but won't provide a free suite at the stadium? Yeah that's an insane hill to die on.

It's also a ridiculous ask by the player, I agree with that, but that's a separate point.

Well they already denied Judge so they couldn't do it now.

I think that's because paying crazy money is nothing new for the Yankees and every year someone gives the top free agent an absurd amount of money, so neither of these concepts is seen as anything out of the norm.

But giving a player a suite? It's not about the value, it's the message. I don't think the Yankees want to open that can of worms.

You give him that, then what does the next guy ask for? A helicopter to get to the games?

Soon after you'll have guys who won't want to travel with the team or even stay in the same rooms on the road as their teammates as they'll constantly be seeking new and grander accomodations and special treatment.

I think the Yankees made the right call.

The Yanks knew that whatever they offered, Cohen (with his unlimited resources) would top it, so they tapped out. I hate to lose Soto, but I equally hate paying players into their early 40's.

Yeah, I don't get the consternation over this. One player rarely makes that huge a difference anyway, unless he's a great pitcher that puts you over the top.

I guess it's just to dunk on the Yankees, which I'm all in favor of.

Where can I drop off a bid for that?

How come the Mets can do it but it would somehow be detrimental to the Yankees?
