I guess the Odor deal stinks.

He deserves a whole herd if he keeps clocking morons like Bautista in the face.

Looking forward to seeing if the Cubs can defend their title this year. Even as good as they are it is going to be awfully tough after playing so deep into the postseason the past two years. They should get another shot at October though because I don't see any team really challenging them for the division barring a significant amount of bad luck.

So much obvious talent on the team but one guy who I think will really emerge this season is Albert Almora. He has dropped a bit on the overall MLB prospects lists the past couple of years but he doesn't turn 23 for a couple more weeks and to me looks primed to kind of break out in what will be his first full season in MLB. I don't see a superstar bat from him and he doesn't walk enough, but he is an excellent contact hitter who I think he will be plenty productive for a center fielder considering his glove. With the regular playing time he'll get this year he is going to put himself in the conversation of the best defensive CFers in the game in short order. I think he profiles similarly to Kevin Kiermaier but with less SBs but maybe a higher power upside eventually. Kiermaier may be the best defensive OF in the game right now so that is lofty but I think Almora is definitely capable of being among the top handful.

Willson Contreras is also going to be a damn good bat from the catcher position. 20 HRs with a decent AVG and solid OBP is what I expect this season. That may be a little aggressive on the HR compared to projections but I think that is about where he ends up. Hopefully his catching skills continue to develop. He works hard at it so I think he'll be good enough in that aspect.

The amount of young talent on this team is ridiculous. The fact that very little of it is pitching is a little troublesome, but I'll take it. They'll figure that part out.

Deuce Sounds like bad news on Smyly. Flexor bundle strain, no surgery required but looking like a June return. I know as a Rays fan you are probably relieved they got something for him since he seems to constantly battle injuries, but you have him on your FBB team so that has to sting a little bit. Not like you were heavily relying on him but still, probably going to have to try and replace him with another SP.

That sucks to hear. Such a talented guy and he was great during the WBC.

Molina got 3 years at 20m per. Well, it was nice knowing you, Lucroy.

I hate that Opening Day is essentially 2 days and starts on dunday now.

That said, seeing the Rays rock the Yankees on ESPN always brings a smile to my face.

Beltre to start the season on the DL with his decrepit calf muscles. That means the Legend and Future Hall of Famer Joey Gallo gets to play.

By play I mean swing and miss at three straight pitches...

How dare you sir!

70 wins is the goal this year for the Braves. Give me 70 wins and field a respectable offense for a change. That's all I'm asking for this year.

BJ Upton is available is you guys need some added pop.

:unsure

So whats the deal on Archer is he really available or is he only available for a kings ransom?

Everybody in Houston are all hot and bothered about Quintana but I am wondering if the Rays are just seeing how the market plays out?

Also is he still any good?:unsure

Nobody is available until we're out of it, that's how the Rays operate every year. Archer looked great all spring when pitching in the WBC for Team USA and he was great again yesterday against the Yankees. If he gets back to his 2015 self, we have a good shot to be in it all year and you'll have to ask again in the winter.

He won't have to wait for the winter to talk about it. Im thinking early August.

The Braves bullpen is still a hot mess.

That tends to happen when management trades away all of the decent MLB caliber relievers for prospects who are still years away from the majors.

Well, the first inning is over. Twins shaky pitching still hasn't given up a run this season...

~nervous fart~

That sounds about right.
