I think they wanted to do something like that, but someone snagged the copyright on the names they wanted and basically tried to hold them at gunpoint for it

As for the old logo, there was nothing disrespectful about it in any way, quite the opposite given it was modeled after the face of a famous Blackfoot chief.

The name was funked though. The origin of that name is entwined with the capture of bloody human scalps as proof of genocide. Fuck that.

I don’t agree with your last paragraph. There was a long bloody history between native Americans and Americans and neither side was committing genocide at all.

And regardless, the name Redskin no longer carried that connotation except to hypersensitive political correction warriors looking to be offended. In reality, the term Redskin had transformed from one with derogatory intention to one that was solely associated with football, and no different or more offensive than the obvious stereotype of the drunken Irishman for Notre Dame, and certainly no more harmful.

That being said the squeaky wheels force the normal people in this country to accommodate them, so, Warriors or something similar would be better than the shit they forced on us.
