LOL @ The Eagles

Yes actually. This isn't Bitcoin or a stamp collection. You have to get actual value for what you're paying. You can't just pay a first for say, Deebo Samuel and just throw up your hands and say it's fine because that's the going price for receivers nowadays.

That's not to say Brown is Deebo. But let's say Brown puts up this year the average of his past two seasons - about 70 catches and about 1000 yards. Was that worth a first? No, because you can get that type of production a lot cheaper than that.

NE paid for the guy Brown was 3 seasons ago. Maybe he gets back to that. Maybe. But it's enough of an uncertainty and risk that he shouldn't have commanded a premium price tag.

If I had to bet he'll easily put up 1100-2200+ and 8-10 TD's, Hurts and their shitty passing game was a big part of the statistical dip.

Plus Vrabel seems to have a great rapport with him. He can be a headache of course, but I bet we don't see all the drama in NE, or at least not as much.

I think there’s truth in that NE is betting Maye gets better production out of Brown in 2026, unlike Hurts who lacks accuracy unless it’s a deep ball. But it’s not like they can just get Amari Cooper for a 5th round pick from some bitter rednecks.

There’s a lot that goes into stats (CeeDee had 75/1077 yards last year and only 3 TD’s despite a great season from Dak, and no one is calling him washed), but it’s more about Brown winning his matchups and he still does that.

I don’t know what the fuck Hurts’ problem was last year TBH (besides that he sucks) and Barkley wasn’t the threat he was the year prior.

The supply of WR’s that can lead an offense is seriously limited. There certainly aren’t 32 of them, heck there might not even be 16.

No question Brown and Hurts were not getting along last year. WR/QB is kind of weird in that if you have a strained relationship between the two it just doesn't work. Frankly I think more players than just Brown have gotten fed up with Hurts. But Brown is the only one who vocalized it.

Brown and Vrabel did not have a good relationship in TN, according to Brown's interview with Julian Edelman on Names with Games.
Must not have been that bad if he'd trade that much for him...

Yeah the trade doesn't happen without Vrabel wanting it, so it must have been overblown.
You know Brown was all but stifled in Tennessee, and not getting the football or getting limp passes is something that drives the most competitive WRs batshit insane.

Frankly you want those guys on your team unless you recognize you’ve reached the limit of your being able to help them.

With no QB prospects in the foreseeable future, Vranel made an easy business decision to trade Brown out of Tennessee and get good value.

Now Philly has to make the same decision. With guaranteed money tied up in Hurts, there’s no foreseeable relief for Brown once again.

Maye OTOH is a perfect fit. A young QB who makes plays with his arm, not his legs and ass. Vrabel finally has the guy who can feed Brown and help secure the third most important position on the team
