Yep, I had a new one put in 2 years ago and it was 13k
It's tough. They reach a certain age and you either keep trying to fix or fill them. Or you just replace and not worry about it for awhile hopefully.
2010. It’s just the upstairs unit not the downstairs. To replace the unit would be $11,000 though. I kinda trust my guy, for example the motor burned out on it last year and many HVAC guys were telling me the whole thing had to be replaced, or $8000 to fix it, but he came over and took a look, and was like, yeah, I have this piece lying around my storage yard, I’ll brb. And he went and got it and put it in and didn’t even charge me a dime for any of it.How olds the unit? I actually replaced both my HVAC over the course of the last year. Costs about 12,000 each. But one is a 5 ton and one is a 4 1/2 ton.

So I believe him when he says that’s the cost. And he says the unit has years of life, in theory, even at 16 years old.
But damn this shit is expensive. $4700 for a fricking coil.
So, the fan in my laptop is making noises. I'm quite sure it is going out. So, I ordered a replacement. Have any of you guys ever done this before? I use to work on desktops a lot, but never a laptop. Any advice would be appreciated.
Yeah, I can't imagine it's very difficult, but back when I was messing with desktops they so heavily emphasized statis bracelets and all that I didn't know how careful I need to be with all of that.I have changed something once and I just remember how tiny the fucking screws were. I wouldn't imagine you have to go too deep into it for a fan but its more annoying than hard. Just dont lose the screws!

Yeah, the videos I watched didn't seem like it was very complicated. I was mostly worried about static electricity.Never heard of them. I guess safety is good but it should just be a small pigtail to unplug and some screws.
Dunk it underwater first. It will get rid of all the static electricity.Yeah, the videos I watched didn't seem like it was very complicated. I was mostly worried about static electricity.

Hopefully it’s not soldered to the MBYeah, I can't imagine it's very difficult, but back when I was messing with desktops they so heavily emphasized statis bracelets and all that I didn't know how careful I need to be with all of that.
I highly doubt it. I'm sure there is a pigtail on it.Hopefully it’s not soldered to the MB
Now I hope that mf’er is on there with construction adhesive!I highly doubt it. I'm sure there is a pigtail on it.
But, just in case you were trying to be funny...

Thanks. I can use a small bowl to hold the screws. Just gotta not drop them.Depending on the model of your laptop, the fan should be a simple change out.
The toughest part is keeping up with the tiny screws and remembering where they go.

Or just a hardened dab of mayo
