Golf Thread

I am going golfing today for the first time in 3 years. This is huge for me. I used to golf 10-15 times a year at least, but with the whole alcohol thing I haven't been doing anything extracurricular. Today is one of those putting the pieces back together days. It feels good, man. It feels good.

I shot a 107. Not terrible I guess for the first time to play in 3 years, but it was frustrating as shit.

This looks like it will be good. Here is Grok's description:

  • The post from @WhereItLiesTV shares a promotional video framed as the mission statement for ESPN's new four-part docuseries "Where It Lies," hosted by Wright Thompson and directed by Timothy Horgan.
  • The series focuses on America's public and municipal golf courses, showcasing everyday players, vibrant local characters, and the accessible, non-elite side of the game rather than country club culture.
  • Video imagery includes scenic golf courses, casual players teeing off, a championship trophy silhouette, and quirky signs like "PLAY BAD FAST!!!!!" to capture the fun, warts-and-all spirit of community golf.
Schedule:

"Where It Lies" premiered very recently.
  • Episode 1 ("Van Cortlandt Park") became available on the ESPN App on April 6, 2026.
  • Its linear TV debut aired on ESPN2 on April 8, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET (which is today, depending on your time zone)
The rest of the four-part series rolls out on a staggered schedule:
  • Episode 2 (Rancho Park Golf Course, Los Angeles): May 11 on the ESPN App (ESPN2 date TBA)
  • Episode 3 (Augusta Municipal / "The Patch," Georgia): June 22 on the ESPN App
  • Episode 4 (Kahuku Golf Course, Hawaii): August 24 on the ESPN App
Episode 1 is already streaming on the ESPN App (and via ESPN on Disney+ for bundled subscribers in supported regions). Subsequent episodes follow the same pattern: app first, then linear on ESPN2.

No international streaming details have been widely announced yet. You can check the ESPN App or ESPN.com for the latest availability in your area.

It's Masters Thursday. Looks like the best way to watch the early featured groups is on Paramount +.

Looks like McIlroy came to play. 3 of first 4 holes in the second round went for birdies. -8 for the tournament.

From the Babylon Bee: (I will post my favorites)

9 Things More Exciting Than Watching Golf

  1. Monitoring your fingernail growth: All the silence and anticipation of golf, but with the miracle of biology.
  2. Enjoying your Windows "3D Pipes" screensaver: The pinnacle of digital entertainment.
  3. Checking out YouTube videos of 40-year-old men unboxing Star Wars action figures: It's fascinating to have a peek into the lives of the most disturbed members of society.
  4. Viewing the director's cut of Cory Booker's 25-hour filibuster: Now with 12 minutes of previously unseen footage.

NOTE: I love watching golf, but these made me laugh. Especially the anticipation of getting that 12 mins of previously unseen footage of Booker's dumbass. :lol
