It's frustrating because it smacks of a desperate, need-based move. I get it that they need an edge rusher, but nothing I've read leads me to believe this guy is worth a 2nd & a 3rd.

It's an example. It's just as possible that we waste the pick as use it correctly. Hell, it's actually more likely we would've wasted it to be honest.

Right. If we had traded down and selected him at the bottom of the first, I would have been high fiving the selection. Taking him even further down the draft should represent even better value, right?

No. Not if you give up a 3rd f'n rounder to do it.

And what if we had done that, acquired a couple extra thirds, and with one of them took Trai Turner?

Would have come out ahead.
 
Bortles and Lee worked out in pre-draft sessions together.

Basically they are the next Montana to Rice.

He got late hype as a potential 1st. So I can see the logic. The retard logic.

What they basically said with this trade is that the defense is set. The DL is set.

We were just one edge rusher away from fielding a competitive defense.

Again, insane.

Absolutely. But if you grade him a first rounder, you're betting he won't bust. So you make the move to get him.

Yep. This trade definitely makes you think Jerry thinks we are oh so close. His inability to judge a draft and more importantly, judge his own roster, continues to be our biggest obstacle.
