I've always felt Mathis was underrated because Freeney got all the attention, so I've been in his corner for a while. I think it's harder to sack the QB as an LDE in a 4-3, and to get the sacks Mathis did before converting to a 3-4 OLB tells a strong story. You wonder what might have been had he gotten plays at RDE earlier in his career.
