I don't love how friendly and kind Schotty is. Its just not what I've appreciated in a coach. But he isn't going anywhere. I at least don't want to be in a position again where he can claim no responsibility for an epically bad defense.

Schotty should know the defenses he hates to face. Let him pick our a coordinator that can implement that stuff.

I don't care about stuff like that. Either a guy can coach, or he can't. Hell, Dick Vermeil was probably the nicest guy to ever step on to a football field. Andy Reid, too.

And before people start getting all up in their feels... No. I am not comparing Schottenheimer to Vermeil or Reid.

They did the same to McCarthy and they did the same to Garrett and they did the same to Fat Wade and they even did it to Parcells (not sure about Campo, Gailey or Switzer but probably).

I'm sure they'll learn their lesson this time though.

Not that I think they will. But it's why we keep getting the same results at the end of the season. We do things the fucked up way.

No, don't get me wrong I agree with you.

And there have been times where they've let the HC pick his entire staff at some point or at least the main hires (I could be wrong but I believe they did this with McCarthy for example with dumping Moore and hiring Schottenheimer, possibly going from Nolan to Quinn also).

So I do think it's possible.
 
Does Schotty really want to hire the next guy? If it doesn't work out, he'll get blamed.

The difficult part with this is if he is in the running for a head coaching job he isn't probably going to make a decision until after he explores his head coaching options. That means that we sort of have to wait on a defensive coordinator if he is who we want. And by that time if he is hired by someone else I worry that our options could be limited.
 
I'd maybe consider hanging on to Whitecotton, if the new DC liked him. But get rid of all the others.
