I knew that story, and still flip the first cigarette (front middle) of every newly opened pack to this day.

And don't ever take somebody's lucky cigarette. There will be hell to pay.
 
Nothing like waking up at 3 in the morning in the middle of the summer to find the A/C in your house not working. :budd

It's working for right now. I thought it had frozen up because we had to have someone come out a week ago and at that time it was low on freon and was freezing up. But, I turned it off for a couple of hours starting about 5 this morning. Turned it back on at 7:30 and it has been working fine since. There was a pullout on the outside unit that was loose but the unit was still running, so that shouldn't have been the problem. It's not low on freon because it is definitely cooling the house off now. And, so far it is leaking condensation where it should in the back. Basically, I have no fucking clue why the house was 78 at 3 this morning. But, it woke me up, and I am now grumpy.

Oh, I don't mean to imply we are in the clear. Nothing in my life is ever that simple, I assure you.

When it’s super hot out and your AC is working hard, go out every few hours and hose it down. Your condenser will thank you by not freezing up.

Yeah unfortunately I've had my fair share of HVAC issues. Only way to know if it's frozen up is to pull the panel off the air handler and look. Of course when you have two HVAC at the office and two at home, you're bound to have a problem somewhere.

Even worse the air handlers at my house are both in the attic which I also hate.

The problem is extreme heat and air not moving fast enough over the coils can cause freezing too. Not just low refrigerant.

I am now convinced it was that pullout for the main unit outside. I didn't look at that this morning at 3 because I couldn't see, and when I went out at 7:30 and looked at it was when I found it was loose. At first I talked myself into the thought that it was running the whole time, but the more I think about it, I don't think it was running. Once I seated it properly it started operating properly. I guess the guys that looked at it a week ago maybe didn't get the pullout pushed in far enough and didn't close the door to that box properly and we had a storm come through last night with very heavy winds that may have rattled that pullout even looser and caused power loss at the outside unit overnight. The air handler in the attic was on when I got up so I think that is why, in my half-asleep state this morning, I mentally convinced myself it was on the whole time. I now don't think that was the case. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Today I built a cornhole set, burned my burn pit, hung out on the patio a little while the wife was staining the boards, we played some darts and pool in our game room, and got to make fun of Booze a couple of times. Even with the A/C issue, it was a good day, my friends. Good night, boys.
