I smoked my entire time in the military.

I never did that.

But I did see others who did it, saying it was their "lucky cigarette" and that if you were bumming one not to take that one.

I never knew that either. We did this in high school.

I knew that story, and still flip the first cigarette (front middle) of every newly opened pack to this day.

And don't ever take somebody's lucky cigarette. There will be hell to pay.
