I know, you don't like Dak, you love Wentz, we get it.
Yes, and we get that you are a Dak fanboy. I’m far from the only person who is warning this contract would be a significant overpayment.

Uhh...how about no?
What did the tweet say? It must have been deleted.
Then that should be an easy decision for the team. Just sign the fucking 4 year deal and be done with it.![]()
Cowboys Contracts: 'Dak Wants $45M For 5th Year' - And What That Means
Dallas Cowboys Contracts: Analyst Chris Simms Says 'Dak Prescott Wants $45M For A 5th Year'; Here's What That Meanswww.si.com

Yea, it's hilarious because if it were me (as the team) I'd prefer the 4 year deal as well. It ties you down for less time and allows you to get out of it earlier if you want, and if he continues to prove himself over the next 4 years as a top-tier QB you're happy to pay him again after the 4 years anyway.
I guess if you have unwavering (some might call it naive) belief in Dak you'd rather get 5 years to buy yourself another year of somewhat cheaper control, but at this point that's a leap of faith.
At least enough of a leap of faith that if the only sticking point is 4 vs. 5 years you just say fuck it and go with 4.
Yeah I mean Dak's agent clearly doesn't want the 5th year and if he does he wants him paid in year 5 like the first 4 went great. Like I mentioned, do the fifth year as a team option at 45 and deal with it when the time comes.
Yea, why not?
This all just seems like posturing for something everybody knows will get done about 48 hours before the deadline.
$35M is 17.7% of today's $198M salary cap.
Using the 28% growth of the salary cap over the last four years, this trends to a $233M salary cap in 2023 (Year 4 of Dak's contract).
$35M in 2023 would be 15.0% of the salary cap.
15% of today's $198M salary cap translates into $29.8M, which is what Ryan Tannehill signed for.

If Dak wants to be paid 17.66% overall of the next four years of salary cap, it'd average out to $38M-per-year.

Agreed!
The league is no longer about contracts based on performance and accomplishment. It's about "Is this guy average/maybe above average? If so, make him the highest paid player at his position or lose him". This applies to QB's more than any other position, as we all know.

45 million dollars a year. I don't give a damn who you are. Nobody is worth that much.
It's already hard enough for a family of 4 to go to a game. Salaries keep spiraling upwards like this, and the only ones that can afford to go to a game will be rich people. The middle class will be squeezed out. Then, when they stop going to games, the cost will still be passed on to them via TV. The games will become pay per view. And the day that happens, is the last day I will watch the NFL.
Dak sure thinks he is. I don't care how much anyone likes him, that's simply not acceptable IMO.45 million dollars a year. I don't give a damn who you are. Nobody is worth that much.

Well how much are they really worth playing a game?
45 is going to be the norm in a few years as salaries escalate anyways. I dont know or care how much he gets paid. Just tired of hearing about it and want to get it over with already.
