Dak Watch Thread...

Probably a nod to his OL at least in part, and then also not inconsequentially the dramatic rule changes about how QBs can be hit. Not shocking that the two latest QBs are the two at the top of the list.

Yeah pretty crazy considering Romo seemed injury prone. I think Dak is just an incredibly durable and tough guy. Although the rules changes probably help. Even though I feel like he gets less benefit of those rules changes than other QBs like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers.

I guess you could call Romo injury prone but a lot of his downfall was created by him trying to extend a play. He would get himself exposed to a no protection and clumsy motion scrambling around. I think had stayed more in the pocket where he could use a defense of body tactic he would have lasted longer. He was a gunslinger just like Favre and I guess that’s what made him what he was.8

I'm really growing tired of the Dak contract demands.
I hope they are too (Jerry and Co), this is ludicrous. He hasnt done anything postseason to warrant such a huge payday.

Welp ok then.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Dalton can do with all these weapons and a better ol than he had in Cincinnati

Ok, 25+35+35+35+45, there you go.
Best-case scenario: The desire for $45 million in Year 5 can easily be accomplished within the framework of the existing offer. The Cowboys can say, "$45 mil in Year 5 is important to you? OK: Your salaries will be $25 mil + $35 mil + $35 mil + $35 mil + $45 mil.''

"Done. Sign here.''

Should have signed him when Wentz got his deal but everyone wanted to wait and see. Price goes up, every idiot knows that.

But what we are offering him IS up.

Just not as high as he wants. The issue isn’t whether we now need to offer him more, obviously we do. It’s a question of whether the amount he’s asking for is reasonable. I don’t think so.

It's because in 5 years thats going to be the going rate for QBs. Just do 4 years and move on.

I know that you’re right. I just hate the idea of paying him such an insane salary when he isn’t worth it.

Is it really up if Dak is giving a 10 mil discount on the extra year? Nope

I know, you don't like Dak, you love Wentz, we get it.
Something about Wentz I’ve never liked. He depends on his defense to constantly bail him out.

But he does have this nasty tendency to lead comebacks when his team manages to hang around thanks to Cox and company, so there’s probably something there. Ben Roethlisberger eventually became a good passer who didn’t require a stifling defense to win games. Wentz reminds me of a young Ben, but injury prone.

The one thing I value most about Dak is his durability and reliability.

He’s also consistent, highly coachable, and he rarely takes chances and fucks things up. Dak has the strongest chance of playing every game of the next four years.

Dallas should pay up and stop trying to get cute with the extra year.
