A functional organization would prioritize competent backup QB play. I mean, Jameis is exciting, but I will take a Cooper Rush bus driver win any day of the week.

Yeah the problem is that doesn't win any meaningful games. Ultimately when you play the Eagles or someone like that Cooper Rush gets destroyed because he is so limited. But sure, for a few games where you know your All Pro Dak will be back, Rush is nice. But when it's a season ender, there is no point to a Cooper Rush such as last year.

Lance is a former top 5 pick in his draft and has been in the league about 4 years now.

The fact that it's not actually clear whether he's better than a 6th rounder who has been in the league for 1 year, and the fact that Lance had to take a 1 year deal backing up one of the most established franchise QBs in the league rather than going to a place like NY where he'd have a a chance to compete as the starter, is very very telling.

So Bayless can put that in his pipe and shove it up his ass.

I mean Milton is definitely more physically impressive. And his one NFL game was more impressive then any games I have seen out of Lance at the NFL level. But I'm not hitching my wagon to either guy. I just know Milton will be here for 3 years really cheap. While Lance was not that cheap and now is basically a year to year guy.

Lance does have one thing going for him, he is somehow younger than Milton.

Would have been nice if they actually played Lance but they barely did. And when he did play it wasn't good. In the limited amount we saw Milton he did look better. And frankly he has better physical tools to work with. I have no idea about the stuff above the shoulders or his accuracy but I see no way it's worse than Lance honestly.

Some guys just don't have the instincts for the position. You can study all you want but during live snaps instincts sort of take over. Of course he has a very limited amount of playing time to develop those instincts as well.

And to be honest his accuracy wasn't great either.

That covid BS smashed his college playing time. He came out of school too early, and even then should have stayed on the bench a year or two. Getting thrown out immediately set him back hard. His coaching in San Fran did him no favors.

He's still young enough where he could pull out of it. Maybe not. But I'd bet money that when it's all said and done, he'll have a far better career than Joe F'n Milton.

Nothing against Lance's physical tools. He has a good arm. He has good legs. But Milton can throw the ball like 80 yards in the air. His arm is freaky strong. But arm strength is overrated in my book.

Milton is also like 6'5" 235 pounds. He is a big dude. And I know this one will fire you up but I actually think he may be more athletic with his legs than Lance. Despite Lance having killer rushing stats in college. I think Milton ran a 4.56 forty at that size which is very impressive.

I also agree with you in terms of staying in college. Lance in my opinion needed a couple more years starting in college that he didn't get.

As a prospect in Milton with all those freaky athletic traits you also have to look at him and go, why didn't you do shit until like your 6th year in college. You couldn't crack the lineup at Michigan so you transferred. And basically had one year as a full-time starter. A guy with those traits should have been able to dominate.

I like the Milton trade but it just seems like everything else that’s done around here…ass backwards. Giving up a 4th for a useless WR. No big FA signings…again. No big money spent on talent that could change the trajectory of the upcoming season.
