Cowboys may sign Brian Waters

According to Broaddus, we won't hear anything about Waters until after we break camp and go back to Dallas.

I have read it could be after week 1.

And that could be entirely true to avoid a guaranteed contract.

I betcha that we end up starting Costa in the opener, claiming our "best five" on the field.

Yeah, that's what I read as well. Why not just go ahead and sign him to a guaranteed contract. One that isn't all that expensive. Make him make a choice. Either a bigger contract that isn't totally guaranteed or a smaller contract that is.

Or, am I missing something?

The fact that the guy hasn't played in 18 months would make it even more retarded to wait til after week 1. He hasn't played in a year and a half so let's give him one week to get back in shape and ready to play on a new team? That's a special kind of dumb.

That said, it's entirely possible they are just waiting until after tomorrow's game so as to give themselves one more look at what they have before deciding whether to sign him. That would actually be reasonable. No point in doing it right now.

I'm guessing he doesn't want to travel to California for like 3 practices so I'm hoping we sign him once camp breaks next week.

Dallas’ top choice at guard was - and continues to be - former Chief and Patriot Brian Waters, who is willing to play.

So what's the holdup?

And if that was true, then why was Moore targeted first?

I honestly hope Brian Waters was not asking for more than $2M to play for a year.

Last time he played, he made the pro bowl. If he works out and looks good, he would very much be worth that. I know he hasn't played for a while, but the level he last played at allows him come from a strong position in negotiotions, I think.

More than 2mil? No Thanks.

Hell, I am not even talking about that.

I am referring to the idea Goof Son and Jerry might actually pay a guy who has sat out of football for a year that much.

Well, you can't deny We need the help.

I pay the 2 mil to make sure I could run Murray to the right every now and then just to shake things up.

It would be insane to pay Waters what we offered Moore.

Bad thing is, that figure is already out there and we are desperate.

He'll probably pull a Moore and retire after agreeing to terms.

I am concerned about worse.

Hanging around like Bell is doing, "getting in shape", then suddenly after the season begins our crack staff realizes that holy shit, this guy can't play and we are on the hook for a couple million (or more).
