Boxing Thread

I'm no serious boxing fan by any means, but I've been having a lot of fun watching this live Top Rank Classics channel on Roku and other platforms. It seems like nothing but old Tyson, Ali, Hagler, Leonard, Duran, Holyfield, Foreman, and other fighters. No studio shows or other commentary, just fight after fight.

Could almost have put this in the 70s-80s thread because most of these are from then (90s also) and it's cool reliving the early ESPN broadcasts with guys like Al Bernstein when they were still actually about sports and not the hype and other BS.

That's cool. I will be checking this out. I loved boxing back then. It had since gone to shit.

It's pretty cool. Of course as soon as I post this, I look forward on the schedule and the next few days there are a bunch of more recent fighters I'm not even familiar with. But they'll pick one guy and run a bunch of his fights in a row, and on a day when they're showing him it's good stuff. Right now it's George Foreman during his comeback, which is fun. George was such a lovable dude.

It is now on my TV. Props, brother. This is awesome for me and the daughter both. She used to watch old boxing matches with her late grandfather all the time. She is excited. Again, thank you. This is great.

Love Foreman. Watching him box is like watching a fat dude trying to chase a skinny guy. :lol He just plodded along. But, if he ever made solid contact the other dude was fucked.

George was a stud, no doubt. And actually, he's a little leaner here than I remembered... and definitely leaner than a couple of fights ago earlier in his comeback when he was looking pretty fat.

I had never seen it either. Foreman was a lot faster back then. :lol Holy crap. Frazier looked like he was an amateur in that fight.

They say he wasn’t ready for that fight. He was brutalized by Ali not too long before this fight, and hadn’t fully recovered.

Fighters used to fight a few times a year back then. Now days, you’re lucky to get them to fight every year and a half or so.

Me too. Already watched Foreman pummel the Russian who looked like an average pudgy 50 year old for the Olympic gold.

Wasn't even close. :lol

This summer, people were ridiculing Trump's MMA event on the White House lawn because of the heat and bugs, and I thought to myself, "There was a damn boxing match in the jungle 50 years ago."
