Nobody said he had to be perfect. Just agree that this hasn't been his best year. I've seen better years by him and I don't have to have stats to know that.

Yeah, I was definitely looking at that stat wrong. I just glanced at it. The fact remains that his accuracy has been horrific this year at times. It helps his pass % that he is throwing mostly low risk passes this year. You don't see him going down field much, and even on the quick outs or slants he is off with his passes.
 
His yards per attempt is way down. That used to be one of his strengths.

Though I dont really blame him, it is hard to have a high yards per attempt when you throw the ball 50 times a game. You need some 500+ yard games.

His first 5 games were better than ever. Last 4 are down a bit, but they still won 3 of 4. Lets see how he finishes up in the last 7. It's not his best year or worst, but I still say one of his better years through 9 games because of how he played the first 5.
 
BTW no one said it was his worst year, but one of his worst.

Like I've been saying his first 5 games were off the charts. He's made some bad passes the past few games though, just throws that we're used to see him making.
 
Romo isn't having a bad year at all, but I do think that - by his standards - he is having a down year. I always look at yards per attempt to judge how efficiently a QB is getting the ball downfield. It's very important.

Romo is having his worst YPA season of his career. Take out the Denver game and it's even worse.

I don't see much improvement in them really. Doug Free was much better early in the year, but has leveled off. Tyron still just can't reach elite level. LG has been hit or miss. Frederick has rookie moments as to be expected, but his future looks bright. Waters was solid, nothing incredible. Berny is bad.

Everyone here says Romo is gunshy or playing scared, well yeah, his OL still fucking sucks.

Right you are and that is why I think he is having one of his best production years. He has accomplished a lot with what is provided him for protection. Rarely can he stay in the pocket and go through his reads without having to move within 3 seconds.

Romo has had tons of time. For once in like 7 years you can't blame the line. I will go further in saying that blaming the line this year is tad amount to apologizing for Romo.

Let's not get crazy here. The line has been better, but that's not saying much. It has been such a shit show over the last few years, even an avg to below avg line would look eons better.

It still is not good.

People look too f'n hard for reasons to label somebody a homer or an apologist, as if it somehow justifies their own idea of what a good/smart fan is. Stupid.

I don't know what to tell you. Some of us see it one way and others see it differently. I watch very carefully how often he is allowed to stay in the pocket and from my vantage point he makes his own time by moving around more so than he should have to. The OL runs hot and cold. Any team that pressures up the middle negates the OL. That is the way I see it anyway. As to being a Romo apologist, I have no need to apologize for any player. I don't have an agenda for anyone.

Romo has taken alot of unnecessary sacks this year, sacks where he has had plenty of time to throw. The OL still isn't great or anything but it's at least average in pass protection and this is probably the best pass protecting line Romo has had since 2009.

He's been effective to an extent overall but it seems he's really much more conservative with his decision-making, whether by offensive design or on his own. It's reduced the big mistakes but it's also led to long stretches of the offense being very ineffective.

The general problem with the offense is that we literally do nothing but rely on Romo to make plays downfield, even pass-first teams like the Pats, Saints and Broncos mix the run in and get plays out of it here and there, we hardly do. The biggest problem I see though is that those teams all have very effective screen games and can get chunk yards out of a relatively simple play while we are seemingly incapable of that. Put Dunbar on those teams and I guarantee you he is a weapon out of the backfield in the screen game.

You have to make your QB's life easier one way or the other, whether it is running the ball or being effective with plays that get the ball out of the QB's hand fast like on screens, we do neither, so the only thing we really have is Romo sitting there in the pocket, throwing downfield out of 4/5 WR and empty sets.
