2026 Season | Week 5 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Bucs @ Cowboys | 10/08/2026

we should have negotiated that if the 1st rounder the Jets received was in the top ten, we’d get their 2nd round pick in exchange.
You're fucking high if you think ANY team would agree to that. This isn't Madden. Put down your controller.

Sorry, but this makes zero sense. The two play different positions so getting rid of Parsons didn't open up a hole that Quinnen filled. Quinnen plays NT and Parsons is an EDGE, so the whole premise of the trades being somehow linked is silly at best. You can argue you don't like the Quinnen trade, but that has nothing to do with the Parsons trade.
Not individual positions, but as impactful parts of the whole. We wouldn't have traded for Quinnen had we not traded Parsons away.

And I don't dislike the Quinnen trade, it was fine, so long as the 1st round pick we trade away is not a top ten pick

There are ways to quantify the value of the picks traded, and Dallas should have tried to do that. Conditional trades happen all the time.

I doubt we're picking top ten. It'll probably be closer to last year and in the 12-15 range after another 7 or 8 win season.

Not in the fantasy-land scenario you were suggesting.
Calling a legal conditional trade "fantasy land" is a bit much, considering there is precedent, also with the Jets no less from the Brett Favre trade.

Packers trade Favre for a primary pick escalating from a 4th round to 1st round pick based on his Jets playing time and whether he made the Superbowl. However depending on how high that pick was and how long Favre remained a Jet, the Packers would have to send a pick back ranging from a 7th to a 5th.

It ended up being a 3rd round pick sent to the Packers and 7th round pick sent to the Jets (in addition to Favre).

Doesn't matter. It isn't the players that are patient zero. The infection starts at the very top.

I understand but BS has zero control over the GM. But he should be able to administer the personnel changes he feels will make the team better. If Jerry insists that Ferguson should start based on getting paid, even when the whole team has seen him deliberately miss blocks, then he should draw a line in the sand and say let me have control of this team or you coach them your fucking self. I’m saying surrendering to this type of hegemony has no value. He might as well keep his self-respect and demand to fail on his own terms not Jerry’s.
I honestly don’t see a downside to standing up to him. Do you think the rest of the league won’t understand? I’ll bet they do.
