2026 Season | Week 1 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Giants | 09/13/2026

Can’t believe I fell for it again even with reduced expectations of this team merely being a double digit game winner.

This isn’t a playoff team.

I think on paper they're much better so I don't blame anyone for falling for anything.

The problem remains the same thing it's always been -- the culture.

If we had a real HC, they would have looked much more prepared tonight.

But we don't have a real HC -- we have Schotty. And we all know why that guy is our HC so no need for me to go into detail about that part.

I mean, it could be... But it also could be a six or seven win team. That's most of the NFL every year - -- you just don't know.

That's why anyone involved with this team should at least let things play out a couple of months before ever talking about playoffs.

Okay, I have slept on it, and while there are a lot of little things to nitpick on (a LOT), here is my biggest gripe. You go into the preseason knowing you have a bunch of young defensive players. You also know they are trying to learn a brand new scheme. You know you are going to be running a zone-heavy secondary scheme (which needs a ton more playing time to master). You know you are coming off arguably the worst defensive showing in the history of the league. And, you STILL don't play the starters in preseason. Unfuckingacceptable.

Shotty should be on the hot seat for that alone. Yes, I know a lot of why is because of pressure from Jerry, but it's your fucking job that is on the line. Grow some balls or GTFO. No other team is going to want a coach that doesn't do everything he can to win, up to and including telling the owner to sit down and let him coach.

Anyway, that's the thing I'm angry about most right now. I hope you guys have a great day, and go Cowboys.

I’m not judging anything by week one. There’s a lot of football to be played, and we knew the defense was a work in progress.

I’m more irritated by Schotty’s sloppy coaching and the ridiculous over-coverage of Nabers on defense.

BTW, I called this loss in our season prediction thread

I called this loss also, but I didn't think they'd look this bad.

I don't think he's a savior, but I think given all of the new elements on defense you need a veteran who knows exactly what he's looking at at all times and can get guys where they need to be.... And furthermore, a guy you can depend on to suit up every single week.

Overshown is not our future at the MLB position, and given his fragility, he may not even be the present.

I'd rather just go with a young guy. I don't think there's enough left in the tank for Wagner that he'll be worth it.
