2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

I actually listened to a Campo interview 105.3 did the other day. Pretty funny, Campo basically admitted he was a puppet, even called himself a "company man", and said he'd do things differently if he could.

Also said Pettine was just there in a support role and wouldn't become the defacto GM.... But you never know what Jerry is thinking. Said he could do anything.

Also asked when is long enough for the "new system" to not be an excuse and said, "We're approaching that time, yeah."

That's what I've never understood about these puppets like Campo, Garrett, Schotty, etc.

I get it if you're a few games into season 1. Hell, I'll even give you the entire first season to be an obedient dog.

But once you're in season 2 or later and things are looking bleak? I never understood why these guys didn't just do things the way they wanted to. When you can see the writing on the wall as Campo surely did in 2002, Garrett in 2019, McCarthy in 2024, etc. , I never understood why at that point, why aren't you just taking full control and telling Jerry to shove it?

If he fires your midseason, you're still getting your money. And even better, I think you come out looking like the good guy.

Imagine the headlines if it's week 6 and you get fired because as the HC, you said it was your decision who plays and who doesn't, etc.?

EVERYONE would take the coaches side.

So good on Schotty for showing SOME backbone with what he said yesterday about CP being in the booth.

If you're gonna drown, might as well drown doing it your way.

Why when I see stuff like this…. why do I picture Jerry staring at himself in the mirror with Frank Sinatra - My Way blaring in the background ?

I have said this about multiple coaches in the past. Might as well go down swinging. Not only for your pride and hopeful success, but for future job opportunities.

On @newheightshow, @JasonKelce asked Mike Tomlin what he thinks when a team has a players only meeting.

“I think you’re dead.”

I found 116 confirmed cases over the last 25 years in which NFL teams held publicly reported players only meetings during the regular season.

Entering the meeting: 367-408-3 (47.4%)
Rest of the season: 543-569-2 (48.8%)

The win-loss record barely changed.

But what about performance compared to expectations?

Before the meeting: 324-435-19 against the spread (42.7%)

Rest of season: 561-526-27 against the spread (51.6%)

The biggest jump comes in the first game immediately afterward. Teams have gone 73-43-2 against the spread in that game (62.9%).

Everybody gets on the same page. For about a week.

The thing is, going .500 for us might win the division.

I was watching a mike fisher report on you tube last night, and he claims that at practice yesterday the defense was doing walkthroughs of different alignments, and then after doing the play, they would walk over to a giant tv on the field and all the players and coaches were watching it and pointing out things. Then they would go back and walk through another play.

Fish said it was something he's never seen them do ever. Now I used to listen to him a million years ago, and he might be insane and a click farmer now, but I thought it was interesting. I'm curious if they were watching live vid of themselves lining up like in real time, or film of the Packers etc.

Like when he followed Norm on KLIF?
