2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

If it's just reckless driving...? BFD. That charge is subjective, anyway. You can be charged for reckless driving if the officer believes you are driving recklessly. Could be that you are exceeding the speed limit a little too high. Or just driving recklessly in bad weather. I specifically name those two because those were the two reasons I was charged with reckless driving in my younger years. Both times chose to go to court and it was dropped to care required. Paid a fine and went on my merry way. I don't know about other states, but in North Dakota, a reckless driving is a class B misdemeanor. Care required nothing more than a traffic citation.

If it was alcohol/drug related it would have been mentioned. Or anything else that was worse.

They use ir for a bullshit catch all around here. Most common reason is actually clients doing wheelies on their motor cycle or peeling out in their car.

Yeah. It's such a subjective charge that pretty much all reckless driving charges I've heard of were either dropped to exhibition driving, or care required.

If they're not reporting that it's also being charged with DUI or some shit like that, it's a non issue. Barely above a traffic citation. booze just has a predisposition for the OHHH NOOOOOEEEEEESS!!

This is almost as bad as Clowney getting the cops called on him for parking in his condo parking lot without a permit or whatever.

Yeah if there was something more serious to charge like that they would have charged it.

We'll be counting on Bland and assuming he'll be fine. Smart.

We probably will. Because they aren't going to cut the guy and he makes too much to not play (stupid logic). I just hope they at least just pick a position and leave him there. No more slot, outside, following a receiver. Just put him in a spot and leave him there.

I really would love it if the Cowboys took a slot corner in this draft Ala when we picked Jordan Lewis. Go get the 5'9" or 5'10" corner who is super athletic, a badass player and willing to throw his body around. But he was just too small to go in the first couple rounds.

Ok, I know if we don’t keep George Pickens that we’d have lost a 3rd round pick (though Pickens’ performance in 2025 by itself was worth a lot of the pick all by itself)

But 1) that money could be used to bring in multiple solid veterans on defense and 2) what if we get a whole lot more Detroit George once he gets paid?

He’s no CeeDee, at least not between the ears

If we could be sure we’d be getting mostly more of what we saw in 2025, you have to think about it seriously

Meanwhile Flournoy is your #2 and Turpin your number 3 and you're back to no real weapons besides Lamb. Suddenly WR is one of your biggest needs in the draft and you need one in the first round.

I don't see the logic in that. At least franchise Pickens and trade him for something. But personally 3 Fowler level players on defense don't equate to a WR who carried our offense for half the season.

The only silver lining is I kind of like some of the WRs in this class.

If we theoretically let Pickens go and signed 2-3 starters on defense in FA we could easily go WR in the first with a guy like Tate, Tyson or Lemon.

The issue obviously is that we don't do dick in FA to begin with, so it's kind of pointless to even talk about.

And letting Pickens walk in FA would obviously be pointless also, if you want to let him walk you franchise him and get at least a 2 in this upcoming draft (as opposed to a comp. 3rd 2027 pick).

But all things considered I'd rather just extend him and roll the dice that he keeps his shit together for a few years, because him and Lamb are absolutely unstoppable a good chunk of the time and all we need is a half competent defense to have the potential to do some things.

I'm very wary of this very thing. I suspect if we sign him it's a lot like this year - some spectacular games but some disappearing acts, and he's still kind of a pain with missing meetings and curfews, etc. Some people think that stuff doesn't matter but I do. It's a terrible example to the young guys you're trying to influence.

I get the argument that we "have" to, but I have a bad feeling about this. Not that it's a total disaster, but that he doesn't really contribute to winning much and we're killing Jerry for paying him a fortune to be a guy who makes some highlight plays but the team isn't really any better. All while the money he'll make does take away from other areas of the team.

With Pickens, I alternate from WE HAVE TO SIGN HIM, to oh, this motherfucker is off his meds again.

Yeah I love the player. But yeah sometimes I think about a guy like Diggs and I start to worry that with 30 mil a year the guy could go off the rails.

Which is why if a team offered us a first and third, I'd probably do it. Even though I know the first would probably need to go towards a pick just hoping to replace Pickens.

But what I do know is that saving the 30 mil won't do anything for this team in terms of free agency. That's not how this team operates.

Diggs also had a string of injuries and scheme changed as soon as he signed a new deal, that's a risk you just have to take.

My only concern with Pickens is him "going off his meds" but as long as Dak and Lamb are around I'm comfortable that he'll more or less stay in line.

A first and a third and the savings invested in good defensive players would be a huge win for an amateur like Jerry.
