He asked him about hot dogs and Shelton said “Uh…yes?”.

A lot of teams hang onto bad picks at least a year or so, if anything on the PS to justify the investment. Some hang on for dear life until a bust for bust deal. Shelton is a developmental type in a league that is starving for OTs.

I remember hearing that from Schottenheimer or someone right after the draft, I remember thinking at the time they were throwing him a bone because literally every other pick was going towards the defense.

Realistically speaking you don't really have much time with these players before cut downs and the season starts. The development really takes place between year 1 and year 2. So yeah, I think some teams sort of recognize that you have to give a developmental player that time to develop. Especially with the quality of college OT's and the NFL's demand for them.

I hated the Shelton pick when we made it. I still hate the Shelton pick. Reminds me a little too much of Chaz Green. And as awful as Chaz Green was, look at all the teams who picked him up after us because his movement skills gave him "potential."

Fair enough... He just kind of doesn't seem like an Adams pick, you know? Shelton looks almost skinny, like even after a year or two in an NFL weight room he's going to be on the lean side. But what do I know. Maybe he thought Nate is too big and Steele doesn't have good feet, so give me someone who at least can move better.

Yea they were enamored with his feet/movement skills apparently, which is what kind of got them to overrate Guyton a bit too.

Yep, worse player than someone who may get cut but with the upside to be better than those guys. Generally I hate these picks but I understand that it's hard to find guys with the movement skills to play LT in the NFL. You can develop the other stuff but you can't really develop those movement skills if you don't have them.

So he will make the roster and then be inactive for 17 games.

Lookit, we lack a true talent evaluator in the building. I find it hard to believe he was not involved and endorsed. If not, hold Riley accountable. Somebody signed off.
 
I didn't hate the Shelton pick but what bothered me was taking him with the first 4th.

If we had taken Overton there and Shelton with the late 4th I would've felt much better, they got lucky a guy like Overton dropped because a lot of the top guys left in the 4th (Keionte Scott, Dani Denis-Sutton, Mike Washington Jr., etc.) went between Shelton and Overton.
 
Yeah and Washington looks pretty good so far.
 
Doesn't sound like a miss so far, just typical rookie ups and downs.

Early in camp (around early August in Oxnard), Moore turned heads as a potential camp surprise. He stood out with physical coverage and instincts, including a notable pass breakup on a fade route against CeeDee Lamb in one-on-ones/red-zone work—he stayed on top of the veteran, disrupted the play, and even chirped afterward. Has he been bad?

I know he hasn't really stood out. I'm just curious why he is getting similar hate? I haven't seen this poor play that I've seen from Shelton. But maybe I just didn't notice it in the preseason games. Hard to tell when the defense overall is playing really well.
