2026 NFL Draft Chatter

On this Downs knee possibility, because I heard a 105.3 discussion about it... Don't know that we have any docs here anymore, but have you ever heard of a "degenerative" ACL? Pretty sure I haven't. A degenerative joint usually means the cartilage is disappearing and you're getting closer to bone on bone. If the ACL goes and you have to repair it like happens all the time in this sport, that doesn't make the knee "degenerative."

Thoughts on that?

I'd take him off the board. Someone will say, just take him later but we know someone will take a chance on him way earlier than they should. I mean, that sounds pretty serious.

Here are the symptoms and if he has any of these I wouldn't touch him in the first round.

Symptoms
  • Knee pain, especially posterior (back of the knee) or generalized.
  • Limited range of motion, particularly flexion (bending the knee) due to impingement of the thickened ligament in the intercondylar notch or posterior structures.
  • Sometimes mechanical symptoms like catching or stiffness.
  • Often coexists with other knee issues, such as meniscal tears, cartilage damage, or early osteoarthritis (strong association with medial compartment degeneration in older patients).

Supposedly it was from one teams doctor. Not sure if this was a dirty report to try to get the guy to drop or if it's just one doctor saying he might see something to be concerned about that 31 other team doctors have looked at and said it's nothing.

Also it was a team that picks after Dallas supposedly that said the degenerative ACL thing.

Right, meniscus tears are different, because when you remove that cartilage it isn't coming back. That would be degenerative, at least longer term. I've just never heard of a "degenerative" ACL. It was probably just the 105.3 guys, or they were copying the questionable report.

They were copying the report. The report sounds like it legitimately came from one teams doctor but I also think you have to put it in perspective. Also on 105.3 they were playing coy in that they know the team that reported it but won't name the team that did it. This is kind of annoying while at the same time making me feel like they actually know the team. Is this something 32 team doctors saw or one? Also the one who did claim to see it doesn't even sound sure of the diagnosis. More like a, "it could be"

I also think this time of year teams just do dirty shit to try to get a player to fall to their pick. I mean honestly, I'd do it to try and get Reese to our pick. Sorry about your money kid but I want you in Dallas.

But ultimately I am no doctor and I have no idea what this actually looks like. But if it hasn't been a problem I have a hard time getting too worked up over it. Now tell me he needs microfracture surgery or spinal fusion surgery and I am out.

I asked Grok, "What is a degenerative ACL" and that's part of what it spit out.

Psst, please resize that picture, Geng.

Just so it's clear and so no one will yell at me, I'm kidding, Geng.

Sorry, it looks normal to me on my phone. I don't know how to resize it.
I was mainly giving you shit because I know you are typically on your phone when you're on the board, and I know how much of a bitch it is to resize a pic on your phone. It's possible, just a pain. You have to click on the pick after it embeds and before you post try to find the tiny black spot in one of the corners to drag it to a smaller size. Same as on a laptop, it's just really hard to see those dots on the phone.
