2026 Draft Week Chatter Thread...

There's some initial negativity about the Lawrence selection. Would have liked more acknowledgement from the experts that he was rising fast.

I do think, again, there's some Travis Frederick vibes here.

Slightly lower rated player but he's the right fit for us and I could see him really working out.

SOM: Attacking the football while attacking the QB. Real athletic. Jaxson Dart, Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts - real athletic QBs in our division.

Stephen: Christian Parker has tremendous vision for this defense and what these two players can for us. Downs has tremendous versatility - CB or nickel corner or safety. Also bringing culture and leadership. Along with Quinnen and Kenny Clark.

McClay: Freshman at Alabama, saw someone already special. Then Downs went to Ohio State. Coach Saban said how smart Downs is. We got real lucky. Downs is a multiplier. Very easy to see

McClay: Malachi is a pressure player regardless of our scheme

Jerruh: Our planning and discussion honed in on CB or safety that could get in at nickel and Downs fits that. #1 strategically that's important.

Jerruh: Just to show you, we had one player that we had a heated discussion about that went earlier - but it was either him or Lawrence.

Jerruh: Could we trade down eight more picks and give up Malachi Lawrence, but the payoff wasn't there.

Yeah I have zero concern about that.

Like I said, Bruglers mock had him going 26. I'm not worried about media lists, I fully expected Lawrence to go in the 20s.

Unlike Frederick a lot of the final mocks had Lawrence in the first.
