Only player I'd be interested in trading up for is Reese and that's only if the price is right. I don't think it will be.

Drafting a WR would make more sense if they had plans and the ability to deal Pickens for a haul.

But because he hasn't signed his tender, you can't even trade him at the draft. So any package would have to be set up after the draft, where you can talk him into signing his tender then being moved.

You'd have to be damn sure there's a deal in place for a very big future draft return in order to justify taking Tyson over, say, Downs. If the board gets wiped out, maybe then I could see it, but otherwise....

Frankly I wish they'd just sign him and move on.

Again, you cannot trade Pickens until he's signed his tender at this point, and there's no indication he's about to do that.

If it was a top 15 pick, where I could use it to get a WR, I would do that deal, though, but it's actually impossible at this point.

I agree, unless something is already agreed to and ready to go. And the Cowboys are just waiting to see if players fall where they want before pulling the trigger. I mean I'm sure a signature on the franchise tag can be done in no time at all. Esignature's are pretty damn easy. Judges are doing it with warrants every single day at the drop of a hat.

But Pickens is only doing that if he is getting the contract he wants. Which would essentially already need to be worked out ahead of time.

Right, and how would he have a deal worked out with another team in advance? It would have leaked.

It's not like the Jets can call us when 16 is on the clock and offer that pick and a second. They'd have had no time to work out a long term deal to even induce him to get his e-signature on the franchise tag.

He might agree to the tag if he thought he had a better chance for a deal elsewhere. Its only 1 year.

There’s like 30 CB’s relative to 10 LB’s and 25 EDGE guys. Who cares if they get the best of the best CB? Just get someone who can fucking do his god damned job.
