2026 Draft Week Chatter Thread...

Random thing Jerry interjected at the PC last night... said a former DC here told him when he was gone that they'd have done better if the head coach who was also the OC had been more of a head coach and not focused so much on "his" side of the ball. Jerry then said Mike and now Brian were excellent at that.

Had to be talking about Garrett. Had to be. I always thought that SOB wanted to make himself and his offense look good even at the expense of the overall team.

Read this morning that we made an offer to the Dolphins for Brooks but decided their asking price was too high. Same for the Texans. Tried to trade for Azeez Al-Shaair. Supposedly, the Texans wanted our 20.

That's hilarious if true, I'd have given them a 3, maybe.

Yeah, there's no way he's worth that. I just took it as it was the Texan's way of saying they were not interested in a trade. But threw out an absurd ask juuuuust in case it was accepted.

Yeah when you don't want to sell something you just throw out a ridiculous price. That's my guess on those LBers.

So I've been thinking about McCoy... I hate the knee situation for him but if this isn't something that will impact him in 2026 I think I do it with our first pick if he is still there. Maybe the bone plug never needs tilo be re-done. Maybe its 4 years from now. I thought it was an immediate need thing. But the more I hear, if it's just a down the road concern, I jump on him at this point and enjoy the ride. Could push either of your starting corners right now to start.

Yeah, his talent is worth the gamble at this point of the draft.

I’d still just use our last 4th, tho.

I think we wanted a big ILBer, sort of why Quay Walker was actually the LBer we offered more money to in free agency. Similar physical profile maybe to Zach Baun of the Eagles in terms of size and speed.
It’s an inspired pick. We get another pass rusher on the field without compromising off ball play.

So I think I would take a RB in round four if I go offense. Bigger need than WR. I honestly don't see the point in an Olineman. I don't think there is a better OT than Cornelious or Nate Thomas. Bass is pretty locked in at guard as the backup. We signed Hennessy to be the backup center.

I guess there is TE but holy shit those guys went way fast than expected. We have 3 guys and Schoony is fine as a third TE.

RB is a little hairy if Jevonte gets hurt. I liked the little glimpse we saw of Blue and Mafah but not sure I feel ok with that tandem if Jevonte were to get hurt.

Yes, this is a bad RB class compared to recent years but almost no one has been drafted. What 3 RBs so far? You still have the third through 9th RBs available. I think you can get a RB capable of starting at this point.

Anyway, if we go offense, IF, this is where I consider RB. I'm bouncing between Emmett Johnson and Kaytron Allen. I'm not as sold on Mike Washington who seems to be the concensus #3 RB in this draft.

Exact same conversation we had on the podcast, we need another grinder in case Williams gets a high ankle and is out for a month or something.

Yeah and I just didn't think we'd have all these RBs still sitting on the board. Oddly Black, who I thought for sure would be available, is already gone.

I've been on the Emmett Johnson train. Highly productive and I saw first hand how good he is. But I may be leaning towards Kaytron Allen though. Singleton fell off this past year but Allen was better than ever. I just feel like I have the most faith that he could step in, take 20 carries and make shit happen if needed. You'd think with the mess Penn State turned into that Allen would have dropped off but he had over 6 yards a carry and 1300 yards this past year.

I'm seeing a lot of Eagles proppage on the draft shows. I don't get it. A brain damaged, small WR, a TE and an OT who is huge, but not ready to start and they are making all of the most improved list? What am I missing? Or just that no one knows what they are talking about?

I do like Washington. Was prepared to be underwhelmed but no. Made some SEC defenses look stupid. A step or two faster than almost every other back I saw.

Kind of like Coleman. Not as much as Washington, but I get it. Runs hard and tough to stop with that bowling ball frame.

Allen, ok, but not explosive at all.

Emmett, I don't get. Smallish and not that fast or powerful. Are we sure his production wasn't just due to the huge workload? Which might not be great for his first year in the league anyway.

If true, I am proud of them for not overpaying for once.

Sure but at the same time Wade and then Garrett were in the mold of Jerry buying into the philosophy that a head coach should also be the coordinator because if things go tits up at least the head coach had the chops to handle his side of the ball well.
