Minor procedure is causing knee issues 5 months later? I don't really buy his bullshit excuse is the honest truth.

That's a 2 to 3 week recovery. Knee swelling 5 months later would absolutely be concerning.

I'm gonna dig in on Lawrence pretty soon here, see if he'd actually be worth considering at 20.

I think you'll end up pretty pleased. The speed shows up on tape but this isn't just a Donte Fowler run around the blocker kind of guy. He can play with power too.

I really like Malachi Lawrence. Listed him as one of my pet cats when he was still thought of as a 4th-5th round guy early on in the draft season. I had no doubt that he'd climb higher the further on we got, but even as much as I like him, I'm not taking him at 20.

The thing with Lawrence is he's really bad against the run, he's constantly getting blown out of his gap several yards past the LOS and seems to lose track of the ball a fair amount of time.

The upside is that he's absolutely explosive around the edge, maybe the most explosive edge rusher in the class after Reese and Bailey, and he'd only be a 3-4 OLB here so he wouldn't be as exposed in the run game.

I don't think he has any versatility whatsoever outside of 3-4 OLB, and of course hand down edge rusher in obvious passing situations, but we run a 3-4 now and we sorely need edge rushers so there's definitely appeal. If we were still running a pure 4-3 I don't think you could take him before like the 3rd, but in a 3-4?

I don't think 20 is completely out of the question but it'd feel like a reach, and it's just another example of why I hope we can figure out how to move down with one of our picks.
