2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

Had a buddy years ago that we said had short arms and deep pockets. Always managed to be gone from the table when it was his turn to buy a round.

It evolved into the nickname Lowpockets. Cheap MFer didn’t even mind. Just laughed it off.
Those types would rather be laughed at all day than pay once.

Those types drive me nuts. I had a buddy once that we all knew was a cheap ass, so we would assign him cheap shit to bring to parties. Like ice and shit, and inevitably that mofo would have some damn excuse as to why he didn't. It was always something. They were out, I just just forgot, I thought such and such was bringing it. We would always assign him ice because it was the cheapest thing. And that fool STILL wouldn't bring it. We would outright make fun of him and like you and NoDak said, he didn't care. We would call him the Miser Man, and he either didn't get it or it didn't bother him. He would just laugh.

I’m not a fan of Bain myself. It’s not arm length. He is stocky and stiff. I don’t see elite NFL edge rusher.

I think Bain's bend is really good for his size, it's not quite as good as a sleeker guy like Ware or Parsons, but for being a stout 265 I think it's good.

He does have that alpha dog about him, but there’s not a lot of history vs NFL type LT prospects to get as good a projection read. Add the shorter arms and you got to wonder if he’ll be a better fit on the strong side

I've seen you mention this a few times and I find it pretty strange because he had big games against teams with top OL's in the playoffs in terms of Texas A&M, Ohio St. and Indiana.

A&M has two guys who will be drafted, Ohio St. has multiple OL who were All Big-10 and will probably be drafted in the next year or two, and Indiana's LT might've been a 1st rounder if he had came out.

Did he put up 5 sacks against guys who are going to be 1st round LT's?

No, but neither did David Bailey or Arvell Reese.

If we were picking at 5 it might be an interesting thing to look deeper into, but ultimately we're picking at 12 and I think it's mostly irrelevant.

I agree that he's probably more of a "strong side" player, but that's not a big deal either given that we already have a smallish edge rusher in Ezeiruaku.

It's getting pretty boring seeing about half of these mocks out here giving us DB's with our first two picks like FA never happened.

One DB? Sure, I expect it.

McCoy at 12? Maybe if he has an excellent Pro Day.

But there is a ZERO PERCENT chance (@NoDak) that we go DB with our top two picks, even if we trade down.

It's like these jokers ignore the fact that outside of Gary we did absolutely nothing significant on defense except address the secondary and now have arguably 5 starting caliber DB's plus Revel as a potential 6th, who the organization absolutely loves:

Bland - huge contract, former Pro Bowler
Revel - organization loves him and seemingly expects Parker to turn him into a high-level player based on his track record
Durant - ding-a-ling away from starting in the Super Bowl two months ago, tied for 2nd most expensive FA signing
Thompson - most expensive FA signing in 15 years
Hooker - veteran that could've easily been cut for solid cap savings but wasn't, seemingly in the plans to play heavy snaps
Locke - ding-a-ling away from starting in the Super Bowl two months ago, tied for 2nd most expensive FA signing

Does that look like a situation where the team is planning on spending two top 20 picks on DB's?

Exactly. And we also traded away two of our top four DL, and didn't sign a ILB which was already our weakest position.

The way Jerry and Co. think, I seriously doubt we add more than one DB high even if that's where BPA is. And I think that would be a corner if they suspect Bland's foot will never be well again.

I mean we did draft Lamb recently when we already had Cooper and Gallup.

I don't think we'll draft two DBs in the first but it wouldn't shock me and the chances are definitely not "zero".

I could see them going any which way at DB, there's uncertainty long term at both CB and S, plus an athletic safety can function as a slot CB in Parker's scheme.

But yea, taking two DB's is pure insanity based on laziness from these draft media types.

The chances are zero, and I'd go so far as to say there's a better chance we don't take a DB than of the chances that we go DB with both picks (i.e. zero).

Hold my beer!

No. I dont believe that they will since Faulk will be the pick at 12

I also wonder how much of it is the phenomenon of the draftnik types having to put out new content every few weeks -- can't possibly make your best estimate and stay with it -- and closer to the draft they'll pivot to, "The Cowboys signed a good starting safety and solid backup depth at corner, so in this draft they'll look to fill needs in the front seven."

Matt Miller's latest:

12.

Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

Dallas' cornerback room is full of question marks behind DaRon Bland due to the release of Trevon Diggs. Bland is solid, but the Cowboys need a corner who scares opposing QBs. McCoy missed last season following a torn ACL suffered in January 2025, but his 2024 tape was elite, with four interceptions and nine passes defensed. The 6-foot-1, 188-pound McCoy profiles as a physical outside cornerback with smooth moving skills in phase. He would have been my top cornerback in the 2025 class if he was draft-eligible.

20.

Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo

After going corner at No. 12, the Cowboys could land a long-term safety option, as they need a youthful upgrade to 30-year-old Malik Hooker and free agent signee Jalen Thompson. McNeil-Warren would be elite in a three-safety look due to his 6-foot-4 build, range and ability to play in the box. He's very good at erasing passing lanes, but McNeil-Warren's best asset is his downhill tackling ability that has led to nine career forced fumbles. Dallas needs difference-makers on defense, and McNeil-Warren's turnover creation would be welcome.

92.

Harold Perkins Jr., LB, LSU

Defensive speed is the theme of the Cowboys' mock draft so far. Perkins' versatility and open-field range make him a natural fit opposite DeMarvion Overshown, and Perkins has sub-package pass-rush potential.

112. Dallas Cowboys: Dani Dennis-Sutton, Edge, Penn State
152. Dallas Cowboys: Josh Cuevas, TE, Alabama
177. Dallas Cowboys*: Jam Miller, RB, Alabama
180. Dallas Cowboys*: Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson
218. Dallas Cowboys (from TEN): Chase Roberts, WR, BYU
