2026 Cowboys Cuts/Signings/Practice Squad Thread...

Yeah I'm surprised there's so much negativity surrounding this signing. I think he looks plenty good enough as a backup.
It's mostly that I wouldn't have anyone stupid enough to drop the ball before the goalline like that. I mean we've only seen that 20 times or so the last several years, and every time the player gets called out by everyone. So how can you still be dumb enough to do it?

Just realized this.. remember when Gannon got all kinds of shit for screaming at and bumping into his player on the sideline? Pretty much led to his downfall. Demercado was that player and that was the play. :doh

He's a lunkhead, but what are the odds he does that twice? Nor is it likely he'll see significant playing time.

We could get them both and when they both come in it could be the Chumbawanya package.

I get knocked down but I get back up again

It's not good when the only thing anyone knows about the player is this incident.

I'm not going to get riled up over it. But it feels like a bit of gross nepotism for me. Or whatever it's called when an old coach brings in a deficient player as some sort of a favor. I doubt the guy is relied on to do much but I think I'd rather just not even carry a third RB.

But it looks to me that he was showboating or trying to be arrogant. Don't get me wrong it's dumb and there's no excuse but I'm way harder on guys that have done it due to trying to showboat. I think he just misjudged whether he'd crossed the goal line. I'm glad he learned that lesson elsewhere.

This is fair, but that's also the only fumble in his career, so I'm fine rolling the dice.

Fine, in Klayton I trust, so I'm done bitching about it.

For now. :unsure

He averages 6+ YPC on 40 rushes a season, obviously miniscule volume but it's debatable whether Blue will ever manage to do that.

The big key is he can block, the guy won't ever play unless there's an injury, but at least in an emergency you can rely on him to be passable as a blocker in tandem with Davis.

And I'd guess if something happens to Williams we'll try to trade for an actual RB, this is just churning the last few roster spots with a guy who is right now better than what they had.
Exactly. He’s a ‘break glass only in emergency’ guy. He could step in, give a few carries if need be, and not fuck up the blocking schemes. If we are long term needing a reliable runner, we’re fucked any way.

People getting their panties in a twist over a practice squad RB are getting worked up over nothing.
