Same here. I'm over it.

I witnessed him torture Big 12 defenses for 4 years at K-State and thought he could bring some of that playmaking to the NFL. He could not.

It's probably time to move on and explore other RB options.

Yea they might keep him on the 20-man PS or whatever it is nowadays to keep the feel good story going.
 
I'd also argue that you can't read anything into run plays in particular in this setting. There's no live tackling and it's impossible to tell how short or long a run would've been.

The players are coached to basically keep running almost all the way to the end zone even though they would've been tackled 3-4 times over on their way there.

Exactly. It's not even live blocking.

The vast majority of runs I saw yesterday got pretty much nothing. But again, it's hard to tell what would really happen because no one is hitting.

When it comes to players my only real takeaways from these TC snippets and videos are two-fold: 1. when guys are getting reps in interesting spots (i.e. Nathan Thomas at LT with the 2's) and 2. when you hear the same thing being reported over and over (i.e. player X is consistently getting beaten or consistently making plays).

Aside from that it's hard to tell anything except maybe a little schematic stuff, like I saw some interesting stuff on a few plays in the run game yesterday that looked a lot like what Arizona did last year. That's no surprise of course but seeing them move towards schematic stuff like that on video is cool.

Obviously there's way more to glean from preseason, but even that is scattershot.

A couple of observers said that one, there were more running plays, two, there was more under center, and three, there was a lot more motion.

One thing I noticed, they did the thing where they had a close huddle, broke and got to the line fast, and almost immediately ran the play. Not sure if they'd do that in a game or if it's just to get more plays in for these highly time-restricted practices.

I saw that too, Schottenheimer has mentioned over and over how they want to play with more tempo and more no-huddle, so I think that's going to be a real thing. That was a huge part of what Washington did last year to make things easier for Daniels.

I hope so. I was thinking how much better I like that than the "kill kill" and wait til the play clock gets to :01 from the Garrett days... :budd

It's no surprise Philly became the number one defense after drafting Davis and Carter. That's an insane core to your rotation.

Until we address it, we will have an above average defense at best

Davis is a bit player, their defense took off because of Fangio primarily.

The talent was there in spots but Fangio is what really lit the fuse, plus the fact that they hit on two immediate starting CB's in the draft. But now that they lost two of their top three pass-rushers from last year I think you'll see it drop a bit.
