Crazy how he has never been in a 3-4 defense way more suited for his skills.
The thing now is to have a multiple defense and he fits Hadley‘s scheme better than what basically is a wire notebook handed down from Old Man Kiffin through Marinelli.

No doubt the guy is your classic 3-4 OLBer. And probably one of the most physically gifted ones you'll ever see. But the NFL is different now. Fronts just aren't what they used to be. Teams are running way more nickle and dime then they did even a decade ago.

You don't see the pure 3-4's and 4-3's that you used to.

3-4 OLB has to be able to perform as a pass rusher, run stopper/pursuer, and in coverage. We've rarely if ever-- maybe accidentally-- seen Parsons in coverage, but I'm sure he'd be fine at it.

DeMarcus Ware was a freak as a rusher and in coverage. Three career interceptions not including one in a preseason game the first time he took the field.

Parson's would be fine in coverage. He isn't going to be elite at it. But his speed and athletic ability would allow him to just run with anyone you'd ask him to cover. And as far as zone coverage, it would be fine. Even in a 3-4 you'd have him rushing the passer most of the time. Just like Ware was rushing the passer most of the time as well.

Anyway, no real reason to harp on Parsons. He isn't here any longer and while I respect the competitor he is I don't honestly care what direction his career heads in from here. Just that the Packers don't win.
