Seattle's defense is really interesting to me, the group back around 2012-17 had several very clear future HOF'ers in Sherman, Thomas and Wagner, plus a strong cast of supporting guys. I didn't feel like their success was much of a scheme thing, a lot of what they were doing was simple cover-3 with elite "back 7" players that let the front 4 tee off.

This group has some good players similar to the "strong supporting cast" from that earlier group but really feels underwhelming in terms of top talent relative to how good they actually are, which is an elite unit that's carrying a meh offense to a Super Bowl.

You have a lot of really good players but nobody that's truly elite; Leonard Williams, Lawrence, Murphy, Emmanwori, Witherspoon and Bryant, but I don't think there's a future HOF'er amongst them unless Emmanwori or Murphy just take off into the stratosphere in the next year or two.

But you also have a bunch of JAG journeymen types or disappointing high picks who are starting for them/playing huge roles in Josh Jobe, both of their starting LB's, Nwosu, Julian Love, Boye Mafe, etc.

The talent is definitely good but it's nowhere near the type of results that Macdonald is getting out of them, and at this point I think Macdonald might be a defensive version of McVay.
 
A guy like Leonard Williams was always a good player but he made one Pro Bowl in about a decade. He goes to Seattle last year and has now made two Pro Bowls/All Pro teams in just two years.

Him and Lawrence are perfect examples of guys who are well established good players but they didn't just all of a sudden become elite players in their early 30's.

Macdonald definitely has the look of a guy who is going to consistently have his team in contention for the next decade as long as the talent is decent enough, just like McVay.
 
This really should've been Seattle/Buffalo, that would've been a matchup.

Maye, like most young QB's, is just a managed QB who is half smoke and mirrors.

If Seattles defense pitches a 3 qtr shutout then gives up 21 points…this shit is scripted
