2025 Season | Super Bowl LX | Gameday Chatter Thread | Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriots | February 8, 2026

The league literally only cares about money and not being embarrassed publicly. They don't give a fuck about the sport itself in any form or fashion beyond keeping fans placated. I have no doubt that if they could increase profits without alienating fans they'd turn the league into flag football tomorrow.

In this case they want to tap into the Hispanic demographic and Bad Bunny is the most popular musician for that demo by orders of magnitude, that's all there is to it.

What's funny is my Facebook feed seems to be packed with posts by the NFL talking about how iconic the performance was. And then the comments proceed to mock them. I'm not going to pretend something was great when like 1% of the stadium looked like they enjoyed it. I'm sure some people actually enjoyed it but there are far more who were like "WTF is this"

I think even they would realize they need to spin off a new league to do that.

It's just way too jarringly different than their existing product. It has great potential as a separate product, though, as it opens the door to smaller people and women

Yes, but my point is they don't give a fuck about the sport itself beyond the money it makes them.

It's true, all they care about is the money at the end of the day. But I think they suffer a bit from hubris. They take for granted that they won't alienate their fan base no matter what. And so far they are right but I think they could risk losing fans if they push it too far.

I was cooking and preoccupied during that boring ass game.

Were any commercials noteworthy? Usually the kids and the wife comment. Not a lot of chatter.

There was only one that stood out. I guess you could say it was the prettiest pig, but it was some internet company with a Jurassic Park theme.

There was a commercial about a hottie inheriting a potato farm. Bought me to tears.

I think that describes the attitude of some owners, but a majority probably like and care about the product they’re selling.
