He's more athletic than Goff, though.

I think he could be a little like Maye, actually. Odds say he probably won't be that good, but he's big, not Mike Vick but sneaky athletic, not a great arm but very accurate and makes good decisions.

I still think Darnold has a screw loose and will implode at any minute. :lol

Totally agree on that as well. Hell go back a year and Maye looked like trash. 3-9 record as a starter, But they get the right system around him, the right protections and players and suddenly he looks really great. On the flip side you see some of these really physically gifted QBs come in and they are a flash in the pan. This isn't a unique thing. Used to be QB who were rookies often looked like crap as rookies. But as the team built the pieces around them they took off. Manning and Aikman were both god awful as rookies for example. Jayden Daniels, freak physical tools and running ability. He is almost a flip of Maye. Maye's rookie year looks more like Daniel's second year and Daniels rookie year passing, looks more like Maye's second year.

I use Goff because he looked like his career was done with the Rams. But the Lions put the run game in place and put elite level protection in front of him and suddenly he can lead one of the best offenses in the NFL. And frankly if you want to know why they fell off this year? The protection went from elite to not protecting him with a shit. And he fell apart.

I think Mendoza processes really well. I think he places the ball really well. I think he has mobility in the pocket. He has a lot to like. But he isn't a freak athlete and so I think it's going to take some patience.

I think they'd all take him, yeah. But I don't think it'd be the end of the world for them to build up the rest of their roster and wait till next year for your QB.

I just think he looks like a bus driver at best to me.

Goff is a really good comparison, if surrounded with the talent you can scheme production, but he doesn't have enough talent to elevate lesser talent and put a team on his shoulders.
