He basically made Tom Brady into what he became, it was a symbiotic relationship but Brady was a bus driver for at least his first 3ish years.
Crazy that he never made anyone else into an all timer to help improve on that shitty record of his.

He was a HC for like 5 years outside of Brady, not much of a sample size, and even made the playoffs a handful of times over that stretch.

Are you insinuating that Brady was the main reason they won their first 3 SB's and not the defense/overall team concept around him?

I'm insinuating that he was a below average coach without Brady. The numbers back that up.

And he coached 10 years without Brady. Made the playoffs twice, with a winning record 3 out of 10. 1-2 in the playoffs, no division titles.

Jason Garrett also made the playoffs before. Yay.

Gotcha, so it was the 6th round pick who barely had a better than 2:1 TD:INT ratio over his first few years who made those SB teams, not the elite defenses and running games.

Like I said, it was symbiotic, to act like Belichick was useless until Brady came along is preposterous especially given how those first few years went and even the manner in which they won some of their later SB's.

Nobody is saying they didn't have good defenses. That's just you trying to find an excuse for Belichick. Belichick has proven to be a very good defensive coach. Even without Brady. But as a HC without him? Not so much.

Good coaches can only go so far with average or worse QB's, we've seen that many times over the years.

Reid had a ceiling until he found Mahomes, Payton slowly went to shit in New Orleans after Brees, so on and so forth. Just because he wasn't winning Super Bowls pre or post-Brady isn't an indictment to me when most people thought he did a good job in Cleveland with what he had.

And he even managed to get to the playoffs with Mac Jones but his time was just up in New England the last year or two.

83-104

I'd say that's a little worse than just "not winning Super Bowls." But, whatever I guess.

And for the record, since you brought him up, Andy Reid's record before Patrick Mahomes was 183-120-1.

Yea with a top 3 pick at QB for the vast majority of that stretch. We've never really seen Belichick with a top talent at QB besides Brady. Could that be partially his fault?

Maybe, but it could also just be the randomness that happens in the NFL. To write him off as nothing but a byproduct of Brady's success is ridiculous.

I'll go on record. I do not want Bill Belichick as our coach.

No more ridiculous than looking past his subpar record without Brady, and making any and every excuse to do so.

What excuses?

That he didn't have a legit QB at any other time, especially in Cleveland where he took over a terrible team and most thought he was doing a good job before they kind of tanked because they abruptly moved?

Those are objective facts, and maybe he's somewhat at fault for not finding a better QB but that's also life in the NFL at times.

Trying to pretend that Brady made Belichick as you're doing is laughable. I'm sure the bigger concern is that he probably wants something close to full control and he's damn near as close to 80 as 70.
