Right, I like Mike overall. but everyone has a shelf life, and this one is about up. That's the league, that's fine.

But I remember when Garrett finally left, I thought the team had to be heading downhill because the Dak supercheap contract window was closed and the formerly great OL was aging and falling apart. But they drafted great and coached well, and after the injury-riddled 2020 season had even better years. I still think that's pretty good.

Yea and to that point I don't think this is some massive multi-year rebuild.

I could easily see us going right back to 11-12 wins next year with a legit HC hire, assuming we actually acquire a starting RB.

We'll need to nail the 2025 draft though since that's the only way we'll try to upgrade the team.

I think the failure of the 2023 draft is rearing it's ugly head right now.

You can't do nothing outside of drafting to improve the team and then take a major hit like that without it massively affecting your ability to win.

I think a Vrabel or Belichick would insist on a better, more physical D-line, though, and Jerry usually gives new coaches what they want more than ones who have been here a while. And we do have enough cap space to sign at least a couple of players there to make it decent.

Wait a minute, is that old fool trying to tell us he saved more money by taking a fifth round pick instead of something higher?

Sad to think there are those who buy bullshit like that.

Probably had to do with the amount of salary that Cleveland took on. Had we paid we probably get a higher pick.

I think he's talking about trading him before having to pay his roster bonus. They could have held out for a better offer but they didn't want to pay the bonus.

He's saying it was cap reasons but I'm sure it was for bank account reasons. His base salary was big but the bonus they avoided wasn't a big deal cap wise.

Because we couldn't have run a pistol? GTFO

Jerry is just spinning bullshit to excuse his dumbass belief that Zeke was somehow a comparable signing or still a quality player.

It’s what I posted earlier in this thread… the Jerry we have right now has gotta be the worst version since he bought the team. I mean he’s just out in fucking left field.

And when the Jer pays Parsons, he'll have 3 mega expensive pieces (highest paid player in hx, highest paid non QB in hx, and second highest paid WR in hx) and a bunch of fuckin spares around them. Might be what he actually wants because then he won't have to spend because he'll cry "salary cap".

Gonna trade for Cooper Kupp to get em off ol' Jer's ass.

The way they talked about how they spent the bye week does not give me much confidence that they abracadabra-ed some shit to fix this kind of suck.

How many millions in a new contract did Lewis just earn from Jerry there... :tippytoe
