Since we have clouded everything into the Trump and Biden threads, it might be best to start fresh and focused.

I figure we start discussion from the debate that airs tomorrow.

I know I will be watching intently.

 
To me, it is dumb to mute mics.

If the moderator cannot control our two morons then perhaps we should not bother.

 
Why did Trump even agree to this?

It's like saying I'll fight you anywhere, anytime... But not when I have to have one arm tied behind my back and you get brass knuckles and I don't. Oh, and you have someone to ring the bell and stop the round if you get in trouble.

It's bullshit. I can't believe he agreed to it either. When have you ever watched a debate where they could just subjectively mute a mic?

I think that was portrayed wrong. I always understood it that the mike was muted when their time was up, instead of staying hot the entire time unless someone interrupted.

There is a school of thought that this may actually end up helping Trump because he can't come across as the ogre he did 4 years ago with his constant interruptions and acting like an ass which turned off some voters.
 
I have never in my life seen a mic muted in a debate. Not once.

Um, maybe that you don't end up with two geezers shouting at each other?

It wouldn't be needed if one guy didn't act with some sort of decorum.

Yeah, I'm sure that's why CNN is doing it. To help Trump.
 
That's not what I said, dude. There's no way CNN would knowingly help him. I'm saying that keeping him tame, at least appearing to be, may backfire on them.

Although I'm guessing you think they're justified and correct in being so.

I didn't intend to watch it, though I might a little just for the train wreck aspect. :unsure

But I wonder how many people's minds will actually be changed by it. I suspect very few. We already know both of these guys.

They are doing this for very biased reasons. They know that Biden is basically a robot up there reading prepared answers. They are trying to prevent Trump from being able to interrupt him and throw him off the prepared answers. This is being done this way because Biden isn't mentally there any longer.

This to me is like having a football game (And I'm sorry, I really hate the way that politics gets treated like sports) and knowing one team has a really good passing QB while the other team has a great run defense. And then suddenly changing the rules to make passing really difficult. Sure, presumably they are playing by the same rules, but you've changed the rules to give one side an advantage.

They are trying to create an atmosphere where Biden knows the questions, states the prepared answer without interruption and never really gets questioned or pushed. It's a crutch for a man who has lost his mental faculties. Now maybe it will help to keep Trumps bullshit rambling down so there may be a slight aid to Trump in this but that's not what the Democrats (CNN) are worried about.
