2024 NFL Coaches/GMs Firing & Hiring Thread

All timer to dog shit we hope a division rival hires in one season.

Things change. And stuff.

I said the defense had the potential to be an all-timer, and that was assuming a number of things, namely Mazi not being a waste of space his whole rookie year and our best CB not going down for the year after two games. It wasn't because Quinn himself is a generational defensive mind, he's a very good one, and we potentially had the right mix of talent and time on task together, but it didn't play out.

And even if all that had played out, Quinn was still just the DC, not the HC.

He was the DC of an all-timer defense in Seattle and had little to no success defensively in Atlanta. The only real success he had there was because he had a likely generational offensive mind in Shannahan running the offense who elevated a good but not great QB to league MVP. If he can stumble into another generational mind to be his OC in Washington I'm sure he'll have decent success, but otherwise...

And aside from all that, things do change, like when you're a 2 seed and lose in the first round against a clearly inferior team in one of the most pathetic displays in franchise history.

Only a moron would stick to an opinion no matter what evidence is laid in front of them.

I think the point here is what’s even more moronic is watching opinions about Quinn taking a 180 based mostly on what happened in one goddamn game.

It wasn't about one single game, I was annoyed with the defense most of the second half of the season and said that I thought he had peaked here. I was hoping they could recapture what they did in the playoffs in 2022 when they were so-so heading in then played great against Tampa and SF, but obviously that didn't happen.

The defense was pure shit against Seattle and Buffalo as well and let putrid offenses like Washington hang around far too long on Thanksgiving and in the last game of the year when they were literally trying to lose. They were too boom/bust for most of the year, when they looked great and rolled downhill they were awesome, but when the turnovers/sacks dried up they struggled to consistently get stops.

I'm fine with him coming back as DC because he sets a relatively high floor for the defense overall, but if he goes I don't really care either, and I sure as shit am completely off the HC bandwagon unless he comes back as DC and puts up a 2013-14 Seahawks performance.

And that's what this comes down to, we're talking about Quinn as a HC, not a DC. I called him the white Ron Rivera but I'd also be fine with Rivera as our DC if he leaves, but not as our HC.

Pretty god damn simple.

I don't know a lot about the guy other than I recall he was part of the short-lived Schiano stint in TB. Rutgers/NJ person.

We also can't overlook the fact that the personnel dept screwed the pooch.

Our best LB is trying to be a tiny full time pass rusher.

2nd best LB has chronic neck issues that put him out for year.

3rd best LB is a beast physically with questionable instincts.

4th best LB is maybe the third best LB, but is really a safety.

The league's best teams have the ability to go big on offense with multiple TEs and even FBs.

This trend of nickel and dime defenses with small players is over.

Which thread do you want this in?

:lol @ Carolina... they're doing a full-court press trying to sell the fans that their super-duper new GM/HC will return the Panthers to prominence, which is understandable, but a lot of the hype is around Canales' success in Seattle and Tampa Bay. Unfortunately, when you compare the WR's he had in those other places with what he has now... it kinda puts a damper on the sunshine machine. Not to mention their OL, RB's, oh and no #1 draft pick. They'll likely have a top 5 pick next year... and a new HC.

They will sink or swim on whether they can unlock Young's potential. I agree that I don't like their chances.
