I'll never defend the Scott trade up, that seemed insane to me and from what I've seen I'm not sure he can play at all.

I was talking about the picks given for Cooks and Gilmore.
We have no 4th, 5th or 6th next draft.

Yeah that Lance trade was awful. I still fail to see how we'll ever benefit from it.

Next season, keeping Cooper Rush is $2.8M cap hit and cutting him is $625k dead, so it’d be a $2.2M savings saying goodbye to Cooper Rush.

Key word from your statement is ‘benefit’. I’m not advocating for cutting Cooper, but this is how Jerruh would dynamite the mountain to make the trade and Lance’s $5M cap hit sensical and make Trey Lance the backup. Will we ‘benefit’ from this? It’s as precarious as counting on Tyron Smith to last all season

Even if it plays out like you say though, a 4th round pick for 1 year of a 3rd string back up and 1 year of a 2nd string backup is a terrible investment.

Oh, you’re not including next year’s awkward forced gameplay of Trey Lance so Jerruh can determine if Prescott’s $50M can be shrunk/cut for 2025.

It’s a convoluted way of trying to accomplish every GM’s dream of getting a cheap starting QB. However, instead of doing it the classic way through a Top 10 pick (not a guarantee), it’s just the next Jerruh get-rich-quick tactic in line of Hutchinson, Ryan Leaf and Drew Henson.

Yeah. 2025. That’s what I said.

Prescott is definitely our QB for 2024. Don’t even think we’re drafting a first round QB in the 2024 NFL draft or signing a 2024 FA starter.

To reduce Dak’s $60M 2024, Jerruh’s going to have some of that money offloaded to 2025. That’ll solve the cap hit for 2024, but Jerry needs a mechanism for 2025 now.

So Jerruh’s primary way of replacing Dak or negotiating down Dak’s contract in 2025 is praying that Trey Lance shows something in 2024.

By the way, fuck the Brock Purdy story.

It was more improbable when it was called the Kurt Warner or Tony Romo story.

Media talks about Purdy like Warner/Romo never existed.

Totally different situations. Coaches don't get catostrophic injuries. There is no salary cap for coaches. And honestly there are just a lot more players than there are coaches and so relatively speaking they are a much smaller piece of the pie.

I also don't understand what the consternation is. Players get guarantied salaries. They also get massive signing bonuses. Not every player gets a fully guaranteed contract but isn't that the way it should be? Hell if a team doesn't want to offer a fully guaranteed contract to a coach don't they have that option as well? It's not like we can just cut Dak tomorrow and be free and clear of his money.

I'm fairly certain that Roseman doesn't sweat his job security... even when he technicality "lost his job", he never even left the building. Outside of JJ, Howie is about as bulletproof as a GM can be.

No need to sweat your job when you’ve accomplished what he’s accomplished.
