Come January. No time to celebrate. Our first really big game of the season is next week. If you want a chance at a Superbowl these are the teams you will have to beat.

Our scouts and coaches have been doing a pretty damn good job the last few years. Hell, we all wanted a vet kicker, and to run Aubrey out of town. We all wanted to run Steele out of town a couple years ago, and now look. He's one of the better right tackles in the league. They went out and got a guy like Daron Bland late in the draft.Yeah, kickers are crazy. I know everyone wants the proven vets that are reliable. But it's so weird how kickers can come from nowhere and be great. Meanwhile elite college kickers can blow in the NFL after being drafted. It's a funny position.

I didn’t want Aubrey run off. I had no idea he was this good, I’ve come to trust Fassel’s judgment over these 3 years .Our scouts and coaches have been doing a pretty damn good job the last few years. We've been hard on our scouts and coaches, but really, they've done a damn fine job for a while now.
I didn't.I really wanted to see him try the 66 yarder

It was less about running Aubrey off and more about wanting legitimate competition. It's working out so far, but that doesn't mean it was a wise decision to not give him veteran competition.
It almost felt like once Aubrey was able to get all the kicking snaps though he got a lot better. Something about splitting snaps at kicker I think prevents a guy from getting in a groove.
It's such a big game. This could literally be the difference between the 1 seed and a much tougher road in the playoffs.
Like I was talking earlier about how fragile a professional athlete's mind can be, I think that was a lot of his problem last year. He had a couple early miscues, and then shit just snowballed on him. He looked lost at times, had absolutely zero confidence. What he looked like in college and what he looked like last year were polar opposites. It had to be all mental. This is absolutely true. He couldn't have been more worthless last year. This year, I actually feel confident he could step into a role in our top 3 WRs if needed. He looks like he at least belongs in the NFL.
Lookit, confidence is born of demonstrated ability, okay?He is a completely different player, but that's not because he's playing with confidence. That's such a dumb read on the situation.
Competence makes people confident, not the other way around. He's confident because he now knows what he's doing.
the fact that it is working so well seems to make the lack of competition irrelevant. It was less about running Aubrey off and more about wanting legitimate competition. It's working out so far, but that doesn't mean it was a wise decision to not give him veteran competition.
