Yeah, kickers are crazy. I know everyone wants the proven vets that are reliable. But it's so weird how kickers can come from nowhere and be great. Meanwhile elite college kickers can blow in the NFL after being drafted. It's a funny position.
Our scouts and coaches have been doing a pretty damn good job the last few years. Hell, we all wanted a vet kicker, and to run Aubrey out of town. We all wanted to run Steele out of town a couple years ago, and now look. He's one of the better right tackles in the league. They went out and got a guy like Daron Bland late in the draft.

We've been hard on our scouts and coaches, but really, they've done a damn fine job for a while now.

No time to celebrate. Our first really big game of the season is next week. If you want a chance at a Superbowl these are the teams you will have to beat.

This game is way bigger than it needed to be after losing to AZ.

Losing their 2nd game in 5 weeks and SF improving to 5-0 pretty much makes it a 2 horse race between Philly and SF for home field advantage throughout.

I didn’t want Aubrey run off. I had no idea he was this good, I’ve come to trust Fassel’s judgment over these 3 years .

I really wanted to see him try the 66 yarder
I didn't.

Chances of good things happening there were slim. We stood to gain 3 pts in a game that we already had a large lead in. Much better chance of bad things happening. Blocked kick... Returned kick... TD... Injury... Even if it was just a miss, it takes Aubrey off his make streak. I'd rather keep that good karma alive as long as possible.

We didn't need the points. Why take a very unbalanced risk?

This is absolutely true. He couldn't have been more worthless last year. This year, I actually feel confident he could step into a role in our top 3 WRs if needed. He looks like he at least belongs in the NFL.

I didn't want him run off but I also had no idea what he would do once the games started. Let's just say it's looking smart to stick with him over a weak legged reliable vet. It's funny how he missed kicks in camp but once we narrowed it down to one kicker on the roster he got a lot better.

It's such a big game. This could literally be the difference between the 1 seed and a much tougher road in the playoffs.

It was less about running Aubrey off and more about wanting legitimate competition. It's working out so far, but that doesn't mean it was a wise decision to not give him veteran competition.

It almost felt like once Aubrey was able to get all the kicking snaps though he got a lot better. Something about splitting snaps at kicker I think prevents a guy from getting in a groove.

I don't believe that at all. Teams have kicking competitions all the time. You either can make the kicks consistently or you can't.

Could be although I don't think this game will change much in the division, so this could easily just be the difference between the 1 and 2 seed.

The Eagles are ripe for the picking and are barely holding on in several of these games against average teams. They also face a murderer's row in the second half of the year and could easily finish with 6 or even 7 losses.

Like I was talking earlier about how fragile a professional athlete's mind can be, I think that was a lot of his problem last year. He had a couple early miscues, and then shit just snowballed on him. He looked lost at times, had absolutely zero confidence. What he looked like in college and what he looked like last year were polar opposites. It had to be all mental.

He is a completely different player, but that's not because he's playing with confidence. That's such a dumb read on the situation.

Competence makes people confident, not the other way around. He's confident because he now knows what he's doing.
Lookit, confidence is born of demonstrated ability, okay?

Stuck in Parcells mode lately

the fact that it is working so well seems to make the lack of competition irrelevant.
