I think some people underrate how much a DT can affect both LBers and Edges. You stop that OL from getting the second level, the LBers will feast.
Can’t wait for that.

I totally agree. Especially if you have LBers who can fly. And after LVE all of our LBers are extremely athletic. If you can protect them with some big boys upfront I think you'll really have something.

It's a causal effect, yet it astounds me how many stupid NFL personnel still believe the DE's and CB's primarily determine a defense's strength.

Decades ago, it was unquestioned that DT's ruled, but then all these sack, PD, and pressure statistics started fooling everyone. They are important, but they are mostly meaningful if the middle of the LOS is won.

Smart defensive coaches like Bill Belichek have known for years that being stout upfront is half the battle on defense.

Then your DE's and a couple of studs in the secondary can feast and clean up.

But now because everyone is stupid and/or doesn't want to look stupid by saying the emperor has no clothes they wait until the later rounds for the defensive interior, unless the guy can pass rush.

They don't seem to care that if the center and guard can blow their NT off the line the QB can step up and escape all day.

There's no way we can go into 2024 with Dak counting $60M against the cap so I think an extension is inevitable there. I'm sure at least one of Diggs or Lamb gets done in the next few months too, if not both.

I'm sure they want to get these big ticket guys squared away so that they know what they have available to re-sign guys like Steele, Armstrong, Biadasz, Pollard and Kearse.

Not saying we'll re-sign all of them but probably at least 3.

Diggs: "I love Dallas. I love being here. I can dodge tackles and avoid the big hits and no one ever says anything. What's not to love?"

We have two Walmarts of different size and scale. At both of them the staff is either nonexistent or disinterested or uninformed about whatever it is you want. Some customers roam the aisles on carts with oxygen things stuck in their nostrils. I venture into one of them as seldom as possible, each time vowing I won't go back. I hope Greg has a bright future there.

Well he is working for a vendor inside Walmart, so…

Could be on the coaches, could be that he just isn't serious enough of a worker, could be a combination of things, who really cares?

I think he can still be salvaged but the guy is clearly a bit of a flake given that penalty in OT against the Packers and that non-TD he caught in the preseason where he stepped out of bounds in the end zone for no good reason other than he lost track or where he was on the field.

Yeah I don't know if it was nerves or what. I'm just hoping the jump from small school to NFL was too big for him in his rookie year and that he needed a year to sort of adjust and feel comfortable and confident. Maybe it will click for him. Or maybe he never adjusts and we never see anything out of him.

That's definitely the two possibilities. :unsure

Assuming that's his problem. I think odds are he will get more comfortable with time. Most do. But that still doesn't guarantee how good he is. Just that he should be better.

Saying it must be on the coaches simply because you loved his college film is absurd.

Tolbert may or may not work out. We'll see.

But film doesn't show a guy's toughness, desire, work ethic, intelligence, and so forth. Guys with good college film fail in the pros way more often than some people like to admit.

And most of the time it's not on the coaches because then you'd see busts catch on with and excel on other teams, but that sort of thing isn't all that common.

Sometimes, a lot of times even, a guy just doesn't have what it takes.
