I think it also probably downgrades the attractiveness of the job, like Flores did a pretty solid job there given that he had no QB so unless they have someone lined up they're probably going to end up getting a 2nd tier type.

Their GM has been there 20 years. That is the problem more than the coach. They gutted that team of talent for picks and now the coach gets the axe.
