And this is the funny part to me. So go back and take Ojulari. He sits behind Lawrence, Gregory, Parsons and probably some of the veterans. He plays some but probably not a lot.

Would people feel the same way about him? Or would it be how we view Bossman right now? There would probably be a number of people on here who think he isn't much of anything.

Who knows but considering Lawrence and Gregory missed plenty of time I imagine he would've played plenty. If anything it probably would've meant less playing time for Armstrong and probably not re-signing him.

What do you consider a starter?

Top 2? 3?

You start 3 WRs or 2 TEs and 2 WRs.

So for the first month I think we have 2 shitty starting WRs. (Washington and Noah Brown) After the first month you still have one shitty starting WR and one just coming off injury who will be slowed.

So to me that is a massive hole. I mentioned the TE thing because I think the Cowboys solution to some extent may be to get a TE like Woods who you can start with Schultz.

Don't take this wrong, that doesn't mean we NEED to take a WR in the first. No different then I think a guy like Salyer can plug in at LG and fill the massive hole there. You can't have first rounders everywhere. There are only so many draft picks to go around. Just simply my way of saying if you think Olave is a 1200 yard receiver, I grab him.

I can probably list 10-12 WRs that can fill that role for us. It doesn't have to be one in the top 4-5 WRs. No different than the guard doesn't have to be one of the top 2 guards in the draft.

Even with the holes I go BPA for the most part in the first. I can plug guard and WR in the 2nd/3rd if needed. But ultimately we are going to have to find Olineman and WR (possibly 2) in this draft. That's all I'm really saying.

Maybe but I could have easily seen him getting more of a Golston snap count. And when he gets 3 sacks on the year people would be bitching DE is still a big need. Young guys just don't always get the opportunity right away.

This is who I really have grown on at guard:

SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Georgia, Salyer played predominantly at left tackle in offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s scheme, while also logging snaps at each of the five offensive line positions over his career. Despite being the No. 1 ranked guard out of high school, he was the anchor of the Bulldogs’ 2021 National Title winning team at left tackle and gave up only one sack in his career at tackle (to Alabama’s Will Anderson). Salyer is very efficient in his setup and plays with outstanding body control, balance and core strength to stay centered through contact. Although he tends to get narrow with his steps and has some bad habits, he understands depth, angles and how to effectively respond with his hands. Overall, Salyer had 22 of his 23 career starts in college at offensive tackle, but his stout frame, quick reactions and overall skill set are ideally suited on the interior. He projects as a plug-and-play NFL guard, while offering position versatility in a pinch. (Bruglar)

He is also 6'3" 321 pounds and built perfect for guard. I like him better than Kinnard and I would have no problem with him in the second round despite some draft people having him as a third rounder. Bruglar for example has him at 54 overall and I agree.

Other guards I like to start in this draft are probably
Marquis Hayes 6'4" 318 Oklahoma
Sean Rhyan 6"4" 321 UCLA
Joshua Ezeudu 6'4"308 North Carolina
Ed Ingram 6'3" 307 LSU
Justin Shaffer 6'3" 314 Georgia
Thayer Munford 6'5" 328 Ohio State

That probably covers you all the way to the fifth round for guards. All these guys have power and have experience on the left side.

Ignore the grades for a minute. This to me is a very realistic draft for us that I think would be excellent.

Just curious because I've seen it a few times, but why does PFF hate Sam Williams in the third?

They just have bad rankings in some ways. Everyone has their own opinions, they are no different. Just like Ezeudu being a bad pick in the fifth. I think that's a really solid pick there. Yet I get an F for it. But I didn't draft to appease them. I drafted based on who I like and who I think the Cowboys like.

Salyer, Ingram and Munford are all guys who I think could reason be starters as rookies, possibly Rhyan as well but I haven't watched him closely.

Any of them in the 3rd would be very solid, although I'd still rather have a first round OG/Shakir or Pierce than a first round WR/Ingram.

I think I'd prefer Olave (Williams)/Salyer to Green/Shakir for example.

But if you're talking Burks (London)/Salyer my answer probably changes.

The good news is I'd also be ok with a second round receiver and third round guard. But thats really only if a special player falls in the first. Like a Jordan Davis or Karlaftis type that we don't expect.

The issue I have is that I felt they forced it with CB last year, if there is a clear BPA situation (i.e. Dotson in the 2nd, perhaps even Watson) that's fine, but if they force some 2nd rounder like Metchie over a legit front 7 prospect like Ebiketie or Logan Hall like I felt they did last year with Joseph it'll be pretty terrible.

And that's kind of the problem with the holes we created. Unless a stud WR falls you're going to find a guy you like more. So then you have to force WR at some point or roll with the thinnest WR Corp in the NFL that runs about one WR deep. Same with guard.

I'm not in love with Hall so to me that's kind of Meh. I like Ebikitie but I might like the potential of a Sam Williams more. So to me you're listing good second round Dlineman with a good second round WR. So I'd probably be indifferent. But I don't like what we have left ourselves at WR. We made some really poor choices. Frankly the same kind of goes for guard. It would be nice to sit back and see if a Dotson or Pickens falls.

I love letting the board just come to us. But we can't afford to ignore WR and OG. I'd bet our offense would plummet without help at those two spots. An additional rotational Dlineman or extra LBer wouldn't make up for that by a long shot.

North Dakota State’s Christian Watson would be a nice addition in the second round.

At 6-foot-4, Watson excelled against man coverage in college & was a spectacular playmaker. In addition, Watson’s impressive speed will no doubt transfer over to the NFL. He consistently gained separation by not only getting past defenders but using his footwork & quickness to gain an advantage. This kid would no doubt light up our WR corps.

You know Parcells would draft Sean Rhyan so he could go "Where's that big Irishman!" again...

I like Watson but he is a raw route runner. Played in a run heavy offense that I think somewhat limited his development. I think he will be a really good deep threat and the rest depends on how he develops. The potential is there though. He runs very nimble for a big dude so he could be a good route runner for his size with the right coaching.

It is pretty good. The only guy I really don't care for is Elliss and only because it is kind of high for what you are likely to get with him.

Fair enough, I like my DT from Iowa State better frankly. I just wasn't paying enough attention and figured I'd give us some more beef inside. Plus we probably take a LBer somewhere around that Ellis pick instead. I really like D'Marco Jackson from App State.

I don't care for the trade system on PFF. PFN is better but it keeps locking up. The player rating system can be a little wonky on both.

Mixture of what I expect and what I would like to see.

Yeah I like trading down in simulators but then it just starts to feel unrealistic. The Cowboys might trade down once and get an extra pick but that's about the max of what they do.
