2021 Week 1 Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Bucs | 09/09/21

We moved the ball almost at will. If it weren't for drops and missed FGs, we win this game fairly easily.

Your hypothetical fairly easy win eliminates all our miscues but keeps Goodwin’s fumble at the 5 as well as Brady still airing three incomplete to settle for a FG instead of going for a TD. Bucs could have fairly easily scored 42

Thats besides the point, though. We moved the ball with ease until the red zone, but the Bucs defense didn’t collapse and held where it most mattered. Now, I’d take our offensive output 9 times out of 10, but if we imposed our offensive will as you say, the Bucs offense imposed their offensive will just a little bit more.

We had four turnovers and still coughed up 31 points. Not ... good.

That's fucking amazing. Excellent game for him. I'd pair Canady with him and put Brown's ass on the bench.
He's a gamer, no way around it.
I have been a fan of his since I saw his willingness to tackle. He may not be elite but he is good. If we can keep him at a decent salary and put more good pieces on defense he could have an 8-10 year career that is looked back on as solid.

Hypotheticals like that are hard. because teams make mistakes. But you also have to give credit for forcing the errors. Drops and missed field goals to me are unforced errors. The defense did nothing to cause them. It was just mistakes by our guys. Fumbling on the ball because your safety did a great job of jarring it loose is a little different. The fumbles were created. But yeah if we make the easy 4 points that we should have maybe Brady scores the TD at the end and we still lose.

That's why it's so easy to pinpoint the offensive PI. It was at the most critical point in the game.

To be fair, after that first pass was too close, he sailed those last two on purpose to kill clock. I’m sure had an opportunity presented itself he would have taken it but he wasn’t going to do something to lose the game for them.

Yeah...don't think he made himself clear on purpose.

All I know is that they need to reign Fassel in.

Everything on STs except Anger's punts sucked. Shitty kicker, shitty kickoff coverage (30 a pop) and punt coverage (10 yard average).
I was waiting for a fake FG on the one that put them ahead.

Lots of interesting games tomorrow

  • Matt Stafford finally with a solid defense and decent offense
  • Carson Wentz first game as a Colt
  • Mac Jones first game
  • Kyle Pitts vs Dvonta Smith and Jalen Hurts
  • Justin Herbert vs WTF defense
  • Buffalo vs Pittsburgh
  • Are Bengals pretenders or contenders vs tough matchup with Vikings
  • Browns one year wonder vs Chiefs

I was screaming like a fucking lunatic when that happened...
Same. It was a blatant push off... but Tom Brady.

You should have heard NFL Network fucking fellating the guy after the game. They each to a tool claimed the DB "fell down" and said it in such a forced matter of fact way. I almost cancelled my fucking subscription right there. Still might.

The weird thing is that Lewis didn't plead OPI with the ref. He just had a look of resignation on his face.
