Everyone remembers Romo getting fucked by the Dez ruling, but few recall the miraculous set, not singular, of plays that led to Mason Crosby’s first and second ever career 50+ FGs in the fourth quarter (tying or go-ahead).

Yea, then he missed like a 38 yarder on their first drive against Atlanta the next week.

I re-watched the second half a few weeks ago when they re-played it and what amazed me was that the initial trajectory on both of the kicks had them going wide and then they just straightened out in mid-flight to barely go through. On the game-winner Rodgers actually mouthed "missed it" because as soon as it came off his foot it was wide left, but somehow it veered back in mid-air and barely went through.

It was astounding, almost as astounding as Garrett's half-assed clock management on our final drive telling Prescott to spike the ball on 1st and 10 on GB's 40 or so. Amazingly he somehow managed to be passive enough to slow our momentum and pretty much nullify a shot at going for a TD/the win but aggressive enough to leave enough time on the clock for Rodgers to respond.

It was really something to behold.

I started watching religiously when Danny White was QB. From then on I was hooked.

I've noticed the Cowboys have mentioned multiple times about Diggs and Robinson being able to play press man coverage and still pick off passes. I think that's part of the problem with Chido. He can play press man but when he is in that trail technique he just doesn't locate the ball at all. I also think it's really good news that the coaches seem to be wanting to play lots of press man coverage. To me that's how you create a really suffocating defense. Any time you give the receivers a free release it makes it easy for QBs to sort of pick you apart. Sure some good corners will jump routes that way but most of the time it's pitch and catch for a receiver and QB. If you throw the timing off and have a guy in the receivers face from the start it can create far more problems and opportunities for your pass rush.

Don't bring up that game, please, because Dallas should have won by ten. The Green Bay defense was totally outmatched.

Packers started the game focused and attacking while we fidgeted and fucked around. That's where the game was lost.

In the playoffs you attack hard with what works best and 9 out of 10 times that's the QB who got you to the playoffs. You back people off the run with scripted plays and when they are off-balance, you destroy their soul with Zeke.

That game is a sore spot for me and I truly believe Dak, whatever he had done in the regular season, should not have been starting in the playoffs where everything is more intense and QB-focused.

He proved in 2017 how much he was leaning on the rest of the team in 2016. It was wrong to start a rookie in the playoffs that season and a major squandered opportunity.

Since then, I've been completely behind Dak.

This sounds like more an indictment of Garrett than Dak, and to me he's the number one person to blame for that game.

Romo may have given us a better chance to win, maybe not, nobody really knows, but Dak did play Rodgers to a standstill and much like years past with Romo, with a better coaching staff there's no doubt in my mind that we at least make the NFCC if not the Super Bowl.

Dak Prescott's 13-3 record vs Romo 0-0, so unquestionably Dak is "the QB who got you to the playoffs." Are you saying that this playoff game was the 1 out of 10 times?

Dak went 24/38, 302, 3-1 for 103.2 QB Rating and 8.34 AY/A. Not impossible, but you're asking a rusty Romo to better those numbers.

Face it, the defense lost the game, letting a Jordy Nelson-less offense putting up 21 straight points.

On the field the defense lost the game but ultimately it was really Garrett and the coaching staff.

That game played out exactly like the last home playoff game we had, in 2014 against the Lions where we were down 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. They came out unprepared that day, stormed back and barely won, they came out unprepared in 2016, stormed back, and barely lost against an all-time QB.

At the end of the day the common thread is they came out unprepared, at home and got down huge early. The rosters were similar but there were significant differences (Dak/Romo, Elliott/Murray, much of the defense, etc.), but of course the one thing both teams had in common was the dickhead-in-charge HC.
 
It’s somewhat of a futile exercise to judge any QB on a games won or even a playoff or SB record. I have never used that approach to evaluate the positional skills of a QB. All the above category’s outcome is actually a sum of a team and coaching staffs efforts. Even if an individual player can have an effect on the outcome of a game the sum total of how a team dealt with the season and its outcome is a combined effort.

The only system that evaluates an individuals performance at a position are the statistics that are compiled by individuals doing their job at that position. That’s why they keep these records and use them to try to improve a players efforts. In addition the only system that can evaluate a team and staffs performance are wins and losses.

Individuals can contribute greatly or poorly to the team but those individual contributions may or may not determine the outcome of the teams won/ loss record.

That game reminded me a lot of the SF Championship game in what should have been the Cowboys 3rd of four straight superbowls. Same thing happened there and that was with Troy and the boys. Coaching and lack of preparation cost them that game as well.
