Fuck David Irving, he screwed this team over when he could have become the linchpin of the defense.

Oh shit. I never thought he would ever even attempt to play again. This is surprising. I wonder if it has anything to do with the coming changes to the CBA concerning pot.

Fuck David Irving.

He will still find an excuse why he can't make it to practice on time. Baby mama drama, having to provide for his daughter, or some other lame ass reason why he can't commit to his team.

It's not about weed. I know lots of pot smokers who handle their shit daily.

That and his money ran out.

As it should be. With Cooper, Dak, Zeke, Gallup and this offensive line the offense should be really good next year. That doesn't mean TE and slot WR can't be tweaked but for the most part the defense needs a massive change. Their are peices but not nearly enough.

Long story short, the offense is fully built and locked in, on defense we have about 5 starters under contract.

Which I think is a great oppurtunity to mold the defense the way we want. We aren't stuck with a bunch of veterans and big contracts on defense.

That's insane.

I'm all for being prudent and not just flailing around wildly in free agency but at the end of the day it's a tool every elite organization uses to splurge strategically (Patriots - Stephon Gilmore, Ravens - Earl Thomas/Mark Ingram, Chiefs - Tyrann Mathieu/Frank Clark/Sammy Watkins, Saints - Demario Davis, Rams - Brandin Cooks/Jalen Ramsey).

And I realize that Clark, Cooks and Ramsey were trades but the point is that every winning organization makes bold moves from time to time that involve bringing in external players that require a significant financial investment. It's preposterous that our boldest move of the last 10 years is Robert Quinn.

Building through the draft is great but free agency is a good way to push your team over the top. It's really hard to do without key free agent signings. The Chiefs built their team through the draft but it was key trades and free agency additions that got them the Superbowl.

That and him running out of money!

But I put as much merit in this 'reinstatement' as I do for Randy Gregory. Like the rest of his life, David Irving will half-ass this reinstatement too and do as little work to make it happen as he possibly can. Even his own mention of it had an attitude of 'like, whatever'.

And do we even want to talk about some of our free agent signings like Nolan Carroll and Cedric Thonrton?
:ballpunch

I definitely agree that there have been some big mistakes made.

I'll add in trading a 1st round pick for Amari Cooper without getting an extension done beforehand.

That trade will be mentioned alongside even worse ones made for Laremy Tunsil and Jalen Ramsey. Teams giving up big draft compensation while losing all negotiating leverage with players that they are forced to keep at all costs.

I don't think so. I believe he was scheduled to be a free agent when he smoked away.

He was scheduled to be a restricted free agent. So I'm not sure how that works. He hasn't gotten the years of service necissary to be an unrestricted free agent but we also haven't tendered him.
