Oh shit. I never thought he would ever even attempt to play again. This is surprising. I wonder if it has anything to do with the coming changes to the CBA concerning pot.

That and his money ran out.
Long story short, the offense is fully built and locked in, on defense we have about 5 starters under contract.

That's insane.
I'm all for being prudent and not just flailing around wildly in free agency but at the end of the day it's a tool every elite organization uses to splurge strategically (Patriots - Stephon Gilmore, Ravens - Earl Thomas/Mark Ingram, Chiefs - Tyrann Mathieu/Frank Clark/Sammy Watkins, Saints - Demario Davis, Rams - Brandin Cooks/Jalen Ramsey).
And I realize that Clark, Cooks and Ramsey were trades but the point is that every winning organization makes bold moves from time to time that involve bringing in external players that require a significant financial investment. It's preposterous that our boldest move of the last 10 years is Robert Quinn.

do we hold rights to him?
Correct. He is currently a free agent.I don't think so. I believe he was scheduled to be a free agent when he smoked away.
