2020 Draft Weekend Chatter Thread...

When it's all said and done, I could see Mike McCarthy making a play for third best coach in Cowboys history.

Well he hasn't coached a game but just has to pass Parcells. Shouldnt be too hard.

"C'mon, not even just a little bit?"

why'd you have to do that? Insta buzzkill

As an aside, what in the actual fuck were the Saints doing drafting Ruiz?

Their interior OL is Andrus Peat, who they just signed to a large extension, Erik McCoy who was a 2nd rounder last year, and Larry Warford who has a decent sized deal as well although with just one year remaining.

Ruiz seems like a C only to me, he can probably be decent enough at OG but you're taking him away from what he does best. Frederick could've played OG as well but he was elite at center and passable to good at OG, if you're drafting Ruiz as an OG he's not a 1st.
Unless they have plans soon to move Peat back to LT or have McCoy move to guard and take Warford's spot. Definitely puzzling.

Then why did you question me when I said WHOA when they took him?

Huh? WHY?!?

So who is #5? I guess everything else is pretty easy

  1. Landry
  2. Johnson
  3. Parcells
  4. Switzer (won a ?SB and got to the NFCC twice in 4 years)
  5. Gailey or Garrett
  6. Gailey or Garrett
  7. Phillips
  8. Campo
I'd put Phillips in the logjam with Gailey and Garrett.

And really, for all the crap Campo gets, his teams always played hard. He was just given complete dog shit to work with. Horrible teams.

Yeah as bad as those Campo teams were, they had fight. I don’t remember them getting blown out a whole lot. But I’ve had a lot of bourbon in the last 20 years.

You have definitely gotten amnesia when it comes to the poodle years.

Week 1 of the 2000 season, his first game as head coach, the Pickle Juice game. The Eagles came to town and mopped the floor with his team. Aikman was injured and the dummy left Joey Galloway out there to get injured during a blowout loss. Galloway tore his ACL and was gone for the year.

Dave showed quite early that he was in over his head.

In reading the post draft press conference quotes from McCarthy and the Jones boys, they seem to make it clear that if Lamb hadn't been there, it would have been Chaisson.

Yeah but Terrell was already gone.

If Lamb goes to Atlanta, for example, it's Chaisson versus Terrell. I don't think their quotes address that.

No, you're right, they didn't. Jerry made it seem like it was just down to the two players, but as you said, that may have been after Atlanta had already taken Terrell as he didn't specify one way or the other..

Kinda telling about each coach's first round pick corresponding to a rough approximation of their tenure.

Right down to Tyron Smith foreshadowing Garrett's greatness! :unsure

Maybe he foreshadowed.... long term abode? Since Smith came here at age 20 and should be here practically forever?
