I think TCU needs to be careful with that Texas game. Charlie Strong has them growing with confidence each week, and they beat a solid WVU team this past Saturday.

Beating TCU is exactly the type of win that gets a programmed rejuvenated again, so I'd love to have that under our belt going into next year.

I really want to see TCU make it to the playoff and hopefully further, so I won't be upset if they beat my Longhorns, but that win could be huge for the Texas program going into next season.

I think 8 is the perfect number. 5 major conference winners with 3 at large. People will still bitch about being snubbed, but if you can't finish in the top 8 to end the year than you probably have at least 2 losses. It's on you.

Plus that keeps the playoff to a month long. Season ends by February.

I'm not down for making the entrants into the playoffs a definitive team like conference champion. I'm cool with an 8 team playoff, but make it the top 8 in the country regardless of conference.
 
I like the 4 team playoff as it is right now. That way you still have legit bowl games outside of the playoffs. 4 is enough, more of a select group.

Yup, 8 is just right.

I think 8 is more than enough times that can make a legitimate argument for being able to win it all. Outside of that, there may be a snub here or there, but it's not likely that someone outside of that group is going to have a real shot to do it.
 
I think that weakens the product...you have teams playing at least 2 extra games if you make it to the championship.

I think we could have both. Make the lesser top tier bowls the first round of the playoffs. You can't tell me a 1/8 matchup wouldn't make the Peach Bowl happier than what they currently get.
 
Bigger playoffs. More money. Everyone loves sleepers in basketball tourney, so make it 16 teams. It would be huge.

Easy to do. Just follow the I-AA setup. It has been far superior to whatever clusterfuck I-A has been throwing out there forever.

With more teams you have that once in a blue moon Cinderella story that makes the possibilities so much more exciting.

Imagine a team like UCF sneaking in and somehow pulling it off or getting close. That would be awesome.
 
That would be a good story, but my preference is still just 4 teams.

16 is too many for football playoffs, plus that's too many games.

Adding 2 more games to the schedule isn't a big deal, but 4 or so? That's too much.

The point of the playoffs is to determine a true champion by giving more people a sincere shot at it.

I'd love to have 16 teams but I don't know if that is possible.

My preference is that the teams in the playoffs are the best teams from the season. You make it 16 and that diminishes the regular season IMO. Might even see some teams rest starters towards the end of the year because they feel good about where they are in the rankings. 8 teams would be alright I guess, but I still prefer 4.

FCS or I-AA has done it forever.

It is possible. It will happen eventually. Too much money in it.
 
And I don't want to see a lot of people in the college basketball thread at tourney time when Northwest Fucktard St. starts making a run in the playoffs from the bottom seed and how you LOVE IT.

The current top 16 are all big conference schools. Actually the entire top 25 are all from BCS schools.
